Any examples of Fighters who may have ¨slower¨ hand-speed but have excelled somewhat in the sport?

Good one, Chavez is considered not the fastest but yet he put on the pressure and was successful.

Miguel Angel Gonzalez. At one point he was 41-0 and Emmanuel Steward said he was the only truly slow process fighter he had ever seen.

GGG in a way. At least his style is perfect for a slower fighter.

Trust me nothing about it is outdated. If you follow the technique taught to the letter then you WILL punch harder. Dempsey emphasizes putting your entire body into each punch and I feel the wording he uses puts you into a punchers state of mind.

The only reason I would say it might be outdated is because apparently techniques have changed recently. I have been on the fence about people saying that.

Boxing techniques have regressed instead of progressed unfortunately. The only thing offensively that has changed is lack of inside work. Defense has changed but not by much. Fighters wear 10 oz gloves now instead of 4 oz so they have more room to block instead of almost exclusively relying upon parrying/head movement.

Punching hasn't changed except for the jab Dempsey teaches or rather "straight jolt". It is up to you if you want to use it. I wouldn't practice just one type of jab but the straight jolt is a very good powerful jab.

I might be a palooka at the local gym but nothing I can't manage!

I bought this new free standing punch bag in the hope of becoming a better fighter. Thanks!
