Today in my Muay Thai class my coach had us spar focusing on just "Boxing to the Body".

Basically, you can only hit to the body. Unfortunately, my strategy usually depends on mixing it up. I hit em to the head, follow up with body shots, and then bring it back to the head. This makes my strikes unpredictable and enables me to land punches on my opponent.

But when we box to the body, it's kinda hard for me to land any effective strikes since my opponent is already expecting and inticipating it.

Anyone have any tips on how to get better at this type of sparring?

Create openings in the middle by hitting them in the sides. Create openings on the sides by hitting them through the middle. Mix them up so he won't know what you will do.

    1. Try to get your opponent to square up. Get in close.

    2. Get at him with angles. If you are standing on your opponents side, he only has 1 arm to defend against both your hands.

    3. Mix it up with shots up the middle or around the side.
