I did a mega interval run this morning but fell on the last interval and fuucked my ankle- still got a PB though - thats how I roll. I was going to box tonight and spar- but my ankle is ****ed... Can someone with a brain, ie not a training **** or someone who i have called an idiot at any time please give me a good workout. I have access to a cross trainer but think my leg is too ****ed Hand bike recline bike rower punchbag All free weights 2kgs-30kgs Load of machines. What should I do??? Some suggestions?
rest ice compress your ankle, keep it wrapped up, as you don't want it to affect your training too much I'd probably do some regular old upper body bodybuilding boosheet mate, take it easy.
This. Ankles take a while to heal. Do you know if it is a simple sprain, or something more severe? I've torn ligaments in my right ankle and it took many months to heal properly and caused considerable pain when trying to do physical things too soon. That, in itself, set my healing timetable back a bit. Like MrSmall said, work the upper body to keep things toned and your metabolism in check.
since you wanted to spar jeff ill give you something that will test your conditioning like the sparring would of 3 min rounds, 30 secs rest 30 secs on handbike/ubl machine, straight away onto 30 secs on recline bike, giving 100% every second do as many rounds as you would sparring its a good PHF training method i came up with, it switches from upper to lower body making your heart get a great workout
Put your foot in both ice and hot baths and write all the letters of the alphabet using your ankle underwater. Seriously, it does work, as stupid as it sounds.
I agree with the earlier posts. If there are no actual tears, R.I.C.E. (Rest, Ice, Compression and Elevation) is all you need, and maybe some ibuprofen for the pain and swelling. However, you really won't know the extent of the injury unless you go have a medical doctor examine it, possibly get it scanned (xray and such). Shame on you for consulting us dumbwits for something medically related. A well respected poster on ESB, such as yourself, should know better. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RICE_(medicine)
