its about perspective. a lot of good can be done if enough people can put it into context.

if enough afghans can be inspired by their 'world champion' - no matter how legit it is, but it does some good, then so be it.

according to your profile you're british so i'd be real keen to hear how great a fighter like calzaghe or benn is in your eyes.

people tend to be dismissive about other cultures until you put them on the spot about theres

You see.....that's why Afganistan NEEDS the Taliban. How in Allah's name are these girls walking around today. They should've been stoned right there in the ring where they stood.

Or wait........did they have the stoning after the fight?:think Perhaps the stoning was the main event.:yep

Calzaghe and Benn are better than this fraud that's for sure.
I'm not being dismissive of other cultures, I'm not criticising the Afghan people, I'm criticising this bloke for claiming he's a world champ when he isn't.

if it helps promote boxing in afghanistan so be it. Afghans have alot of potential. They are naturally very tough and posses alot of strength. they would make superb UFC fighters or boxers. In my university the toughest and strongest people I met were afghan.
Its in their blood, their DNA unlike most south east asians, who are weak scrawny shits
Rough, rugged people with a lot of heart and pride.

But on to this guy, he must have quite the smirk on his face knowing hes conning a nation into believing hes something he really isnt.. Id love to see his reaction at a dinner or something when someone learned about boxing questions the integrity of his wbu belt.

but it doesnt matter if hes a world champion or not.
in this case its about someone who can give a nation hope.

joe calzaghe was a world class fighter, but he was a world class fighter who never fought a proven world class fighter in his prime - and thats why he gets slated so much on boxing boards.

as a brit, i'm willing to bet you'd like to contest that - but only out of ego.

the afghan champ you talk about is more important than any ego because it can help an entire country. it doesnt ****ing matter if its legit or not, but i bet you didnt think about that.

there is nothing wrong with this thread...if they are this delusional its almost pathetic for them to believe a lie this bad

he is ranked #159 in the world but is the WBU Champ

there are 6 other guys apparently from his country ranked higher than him

yes..."pretending" will make everything better and a nation feel good and rally behind something

    how so?
I see a guy ranked # 159 in the world and I say its fraudulent and he isnt a world champ and somehow i'm the ignorant one?
To believe that is about as believable as 72 virgins waiting for you after you
commit suicide in the name of a certain god. If you can believe that I guess you can pretty much believe in anything..... but again...shame on me for pointing out the ****ing obvious.

if the suicide reference was a reference to afghans in general then i rest my case.

but giving you the benefit i'll say this...

ego and legitimacy doesnt matter here.

you're being obtuse about a culture that you're not invested in, and its a small sacrifice for us to give them that window regardless how legit it is because it brings more power to their plight.

that plight affects their children and bloodline, and if believing in it saves some of them, then **** anything that is truly legitimate.

surely you can see that much

What if I told you all of your boxers are a lie? That your Great Britain produces a bunch of fraud glass jawed hype jobs that get nothing but laughed at on this side of the pond, would you be ok with it?

He may not be a real champion, but he's a pioneer. And that's even cooler than being a champ.

Nothing wrong with that. Countries like those can use all the inspiration it could get.
