Afte watching countdown, I think BH is going to get destroyed

First, I want to say that I have mad respect for Bernard Hopkins, and I want this fight to be competetive, and I hope that he brings it.

If I had to base the outcome on each of the fighters last 4 fights, I'd have to say that BHOP will try and counter the crap out of JC, but I don't see him being able to keep up the pace for the whole fight.

I don't favor one of them over the other, but that's how I see it. I don't think JC is a "slapper". Ask Lacy and Kessler. I also don't think BHOP is washed up and old.

I do however think that if BHOP is going to try and counter JC all night, with his output, he will take some serious punishment. I think fighting him inside will be the key for BHOP honestly.

 

Yeah, but Hopkins can tame this hyper active kid with perfectly timed lead right hands. That would shut the little kid up and make him timid.

 

He's not even guaranteed to win inside. Calzaghe is **** hot inside

 

Yeah, you are probably right, but I see disaster for him if he stands and trades too. I hope that it's competitive, and that BH doesn't get destroyed. It would be a shitty way to end his career IMO. If he loses, and it's competetive, hats off to him.

Dude, Kessler was 47% connect with his power punches. His problem is that he's way too stationary for a guy like Calzaghe. Calzaghe knows where he's going to be and he just feeds off of that. Hopkins is the most savvy and tricky SOB in the business. Good luck!

Let me just say this:

BERNARD HOPKINS WANTS CALZAGHE TO THROW 1000 PUNCHES.

Bernard's style is to counter, seek out openings, and use his lead right to keep his opponent off balance.

When you fight with Bernard's style, you want your opponent to throw. You throw 100 punches a round, you leave openings. Calzaghe leaves openings, but most of his opponents were just overmatched. Calzaghe's power is not going to bother Hopkins, and he is not going to hit Hopkins cleanly.

Besides, aside from the fact that Calzaghe DOES have good power, he does unload a lot of slapping combinations meant for points and applause, not power.

In the end, there are 2 ways to beat Calzaghe....be faster and stronger (RJJ in his prime, not Hopkins), or counter and outsmart him. Hopkins will try for the latter.

mate. if hopkins lets calzaghe throw a 1000 or more punches it means he hasn't done his job in countering him and shutting him down. hopkins DOES NOT want calzaghe to throw that amount of leather.

 

I guess most fell asleep on Hopkins-Wright just like Joe said he did. Hopkins won the fight with fast bursts of punches inside to overcome Winky's output and closed, high arm defense. Sure he didn't throw those withering right hands from outside range like against Taylor and Tarver but that had more to do with his game plan rather than with the inability to do so. Hopkins was fresh at the end and always controlled his pace which means also his breathing and hearbeat... Unfortunatelly, I feel this is more a desire than a fact, that there is evidence that Hopkins will not keep up with the pace.
