amount of ppv buy doesn't determine what fight was more exciting, tito.

for someone who spent so much time on pac and floyd's nuts, you are not understanding anything you read.

    1. the whole event was subsidized by venetian macau. arum structured the whole card where at very least he is breaking even. the figure i seen/read for the whole event is 30m + or -.

so question is, why would venetian risk that kind of amount to host this kind of fight. it widely acknowledged that pac brings the high rollers from asia everytime he fights in vegas. those same rollers wil come in droves with the fight in their backyard (it is reported that there were many who cant go in the fight and just watch in circuit).

the uptick in gaming as a direct result of the fight, is, reportely, in the vicinity of $200m. remember macau revenues dwarfs vegas, so pac;s guarantee of 18m which largely comes from venetian, is actually a chump change, for them.

and they still get income in the arena the day of the fight, close circuit, and so forth, hotels.

    200m is purely from gaming/gambling.

    2. pac-rios was shown on free tv in china. the 5$ ppv they planned did not materialize due to time / logistical reasons. so most likely the chinese tv deal went to venetian. arum said, this will surely happen the next time they go to macau or singapore.

    3. the ppv is now split 4 ways (5 if you include rios, im guesising arum gets his too). with the way the whole event is structured, accdg to arum, venetian will get a share of the ppv in the event it does well in the box office. how well, it wasnt revealed.

    4. pac is at a point in his boxing his career where he is not too reliant on ppv alone.

he has absolute control of tv/network, ppv, merchandizing/promotion deals in the phillippines. this is constant wherever/whenver he fights. the phillippines, for 2 hours, 200m+ set of eyes are glued.

with his exciting and fan friendly style, he always bring the high rollers from asia wherever he fights, so the revenue outside of boxing is enormous.

now onto the mayweather-guerrero, they are not comparable.

the pac-rios fight was a seed fight, designed to ignite the chinese/ chinese-american (in the future) ppv market. it was an investment to the future. but arum structured it so the worst they do is break even. he was actually happy with the 500k buys.

    lastly, there is no comparison:

pac-rios: everyone made money. the fans were happy they got their money's worth.
mayweather-guerrero: showtime lost. some fans were bored to death.

    good?

Pac is fighting in VEGAS because the Macau event was a FLOP. Capiche? Even your fellow *******s said the event was a poorly planned and executed failure. Move on. The stories you're making might get you admitted to an asylum. Never go full *******.

prior to the fight, fans werent already sure the fight would make 1M+ buys knowing the fight's at a remote place. 500K is justified. you just dont accept it because you hate the guy.

    how's the macau gate?

    --------------

still, it's undeniable that win or lose, KTFO6 or UD, pac is liked by many because of the wars he gets into ON STAGE. how's the Baldomir-audience-walkout again?

Prior to the fight, *******S said it would easily beat Guerrero numbers, which it didn't come near. You're right they were predicting closer to 1M+ than 850K Guerrero numbers. I don't deny those facts.

A remote place. What is remote anymore? Are you telling me I cant watch a HBO PPV in my home for an event in China? The schedule was even changed so it would be on prime time here in the USA! What a lame excuse.

$25 million straight up is fair.

If he wins there will be $50-$60 million on the table for a rematch, he really doesn't have the bargaining power anymore, he's going to be fighting for a lot less if his PPV numbers stay at 400k

    depends how you define flop.

if you need a million of buys jst to break even, and it did not. that's a flop.

now if you only need enough to break even, because you knew coming in that you prolly would not get many, and you get more, and everyone made money, it probably isnt.

there are more ways to make and not just ppv, from the u.s., and arum is exploring ways to tap those other avenues.

it cant so much of a flop that they are excited to come back and do the same thing.

it cant be so much of a flop that top rank will be doing 4 events just on china alone next year.

with pac going back to vegas, it prolly is because, it is pac-bradley and arum testing shiming ability to arouse the interest of chinese-american to watch boxing.

clearly arum has a plan that includes finding the next pacquiao once he hangs up his gloves. i bet that is end of 2015, and thats it.

early 2016 is another election for pac, he is prolly eyeing a national post this time. when that happens, i dont think he can box anymore. you need to tour the whole country if you run for national post.

seeding asia while pac is still active is prolly a wise idea.

sacrifice the now (or invest in the future), but secure the event enough to make money for for everyone involved.

but from u.s. ppv numbers alone, by pac's standard, yeah it is low.

but pac is guaranteed, tax free plus absolute control of philippine deals. im not sure he is too worried about the u.s. ppv buys.

pac made his money. venetian made theirs thru gambling. arum made enough from venetian. he has cultivated boxing in asia this early. fans got this money's worth.

overall, that was a successful event. only rios went home crying, but not because he wasnt paid.

Can't really say what Pacquiao deserves just bc this was a flop of a PPV. You can't just go off of this one fight or even 2 fights. Regardless you can't take away what both guys did in the pass as far as numbers go. You can however look at the fact that Manny lost to Bradley (officially) and the loss to JMM. Do those losses mean he doesn't deserve a fair purse etc? No they don't bc you have to look at the numbers, projections etc and base his purse off of that.

Also remember that Arum would be the one covering Manny's guarantee. You can't say that Manny deserves 25 million and that's it. That is bull**** and not how this works. Everyone has to get paid and with Floyd and Manny doing the fighting they both deserve to be paid well. Floyd has a business model that is amazing and benefits him but Manny is under Top Rank and Arum runs the business which benefits him when its all said and done.

I say Manny deserves to make 50 million when its all said and done.

You would have a point IF Mosley wasn't required to do the same testing in the next fight.

So that was said and done.
