Boxing needs more tournaments like this ..

 

I gotta a agree with most of this, I think Dirrell beat Froch in their match-up and should be rated higher . . . if he kept fighting. However since he was off healing he could be easily as high as 2nd and as low as 5th. I think you have the rest in the right order and it depends on where dirrell fits at this moment. if dawson moves down he is number 1 or two depending on the outcome of his fight with ward.

 

Agreed. But it did have some technical difficulties.

And although it was a great idea in theory, and it ended up providing us with some good fights and match ups we probably would not have gotten to see, we probably won't see a tourney quite as broad for a while. Too many moving parts.

I'm not saying it can't work, I'm just saying it may not be worth the time and money of whomever might want to hold it. I hope I'm wrong though.


But, from my own perspective, I got to see....

The ascendance of Andre Ward.

The realization, and still growing appreciation for, the fact that Carl Froch is a great fighter, and wish all had his take-on-all-comers attitude.

The fall and rejuvenation of Kessler before the injuries.

The limts of Arthur Abraham, who it seems is simply not big enough, or good enough, to compete against the top SMWs.

The terrific talent of Andre Dirrell, if only it were combined with an equal mentality.

Jermain Taylor's demise.(and subsequent return)

The Road Warrior stepping in and KOing Allan Green, then losing a tough battle to Froch.

All in all some good performances, some good fights and the division is remade and reborn.

 

agree but next time they sould force every fighter to travel. I was just not fair that Ward had all his fight in the USA.
