Incredible analysis! This needs to be turned into a multi-part YouTube video with stop action highlights.
McGregor did well, to the extent, that he did the best he could possibly do. He wasn't in on the plan obviously. He thought this was a fight, against Floyd Mayweather. It wasn't. This was a broadway performance, choreographed by Floyd Mayweather. The success Conor had, Floyd allowed him to have. If ANYBODY disagrees with this, please explain to me why Mayweather used zero lateral movement, and didn't throw a single jab the entire fight? The jab that he used to easily beat Manny Pacquiao, and used the entire fight in his prior fight with Berto. He didn't use it. Why? I think because if he did, McGregor wouldn't have landed a single punch on him. And also, which I'm shocked that NOBODY is talking about it. That "highlight" that keeps getting replayed of Conor landing a counter uppercut in the first round. Has the world gone completely insane? Nobody noticed that Floyd had a clear right hand shot to Conor's face, that he conveniently landed on his left shoulder? Floyd Mayweather, the most accurate puncher of our generation (maybe ever), misses his straight right hand shot by over 6 inches??? How does nobody see that he missed that shot on purpose? The entire fight was a set up by Floyd.
I realize mcgregor is a special talent but lets be serious, nate and nick cant box. You arent getting by on toughness and stamina with zero tech and power and that horrendous footwork. The only 3 mma fighters that could have success in boxing are cody garbrandt, jorge masvidal, and mcgregor. You have to have some form of skill and talent. You cant block punches with your face as defense.
I rarely watch MMA, only saw Garbrandt once and I was impressed. I would say he is the only one who could have made a good boxer. Not sure about Masvidal or McGregor.
