If Mayweather were to walk into an Octagon against McGregor I would expect him to standup, be ultra Alert for McGregor to come low to take him down, and be ready to strike vicously with power shots to knock McGregor out cold with the 4oz gloves. What McGregor did againt Mayweather would have been like Mayweather going into the Octagon trying to pitter pat his way to a 5 round decision and giving McGregor 5 ****ing rounds of opportunity to succeed in a takedown. For Mayweather to have a chance in an Octagon he would have to strike early and strike hard so as not to give McGregor the time to take him down on the ground. The same goes for McGregor. For him to have had a realistic chance to beat Mayweather he had to strike early and strike powerfully to try and take Mayweather out. Instead McGregor went through the motions, pitter pattering his way through the bout. There was absolutely no way he was going to outbox Mayweather for 12 rounds pitter pattering his way to a decision. That's my disappointment with McGregor, he fought to last the distance and not to win. I would say the least those two clowns should do after the fans pay money to watch is to fight to win, but that's just not what McGregor offered in the fight. He fought to survive and still couldn't cross the finish line.
That outcome would have about a 0.01% chance as history has shown - far more likely is Mayweather gets beaten to a pulp using Muay Thai stab kicks, elbows and knees. Every boxer I have ever sparred has wanted the advantage under his rules , soon as we talk about a round with elbows and knees coming their way they don't want no part.
Yeah I know he saved him. If he had kept taking those punches inthe 10th round, Connor would be eating through a straw right now.
As we well know, SOME posters feel a 41 y/o Wlad is prime, so you bring up an interesting point there.
Tears? What tears? Floyd did GREAT by coming back after getting beaten down for four rounds by a novice who everybody here agrees has NO gas tank and awful technique ... and pulling off a heroic win! He even invented a new "Turtleshell" defence in the bout which ought to revolutionise boxing! The fact that there are erotic undertones to turning your back on somebody and bending over is just gravy! I bet Conor loved it too
