Boxing will live on. It was fine before Mayweather and will be fine after him. There is always somebody new that comes along eventually.

People asked the same questions when Ali retired and when Tyson retired.....the sport will go on.

When Floyd retires the highest PPVs will be around 400-600k for a while.

Let's hope we get someone up there that actually wants to follow some of the sport's very lose rules. Someone who fights 2 to 3 times a year at least and is bound on unifying the belts and isn't picky on who to defend it against.
A guy who doesn't only wants to fight in one place and only on paperview.

When Floyd 'retired' the first time, who actually missed him? Not me.
Let's hope ppv in boxing becomes an exception after. It's bad for the sport, and bad for fans wallets.

canelo= just not good enough...and been exposed a couple of times already...don't think he's the future of boxing.

ward= all the talent in the world, but injuries have held him back...too bad, because he's the second best fighter in the world and would have been a good bet to replace floyd at the top.

Andrade= possibly the brightest young star around. charisma, power and speed...but unproven.

broner= the maidana loss tarnished him bad...he has to avenge the loss to maidana with a brutal KO to absolve himself.

lara= a great fighter who should have an undefeated record if boxing was fair..but he's up there in age. not enough time for him to really make the kind of splash floyd did.

rigondeaux= probably the best bet to replace mayweather at the p4p top...but he's getting on in years too, plus he's a lower weight guy, a black cuban and his style is too high-brow for most fans, so don't expect him to ever build up a big following.

golovkin= starting to make his mark by facing his first test in rubio...let's see how he does before calling him a star.

There's no young boxer currently that can replace Mayweather and Pacquiao's PPV attraction once those two retire.

The same thing was said about De La Hoya back in 2006-2007. Whoever brought up Pacquiao or Mayweather's names as solid possibilities were laughed at hysterically.

It might take somebody to beat Mayweather like he did ODLH who was the PPV star at the time. Boxing might have to change back to good fights against hungry contenders. Also social media and the internet is full of people trying to knock fighters down before they have a chance to really shine which might harm a boxers fan base. Also other sports like MMA which is only going to get bigger. We might never see another 50 mill purse. No more Mayweathers or ODLH's.

All depends how he handles Hopkins, if he beats him senseless and/or Kos him, then you've got a potential star in the making.
