I think Calzaghe would have beaten Froch, particularly around the time Froch first started calling for the fight.

He wouldn't have beat him as bad as he did Lacy, Froch is better.

I agree with all of that apart from the highlighted bit.

Probably successive nights, but not all 6 on one night.

Calzaghe would land on Froch all night, can the same be said for Froch? Only when Calzaghe stands there and lets him do it.

Froch would get completley outclassed by Joe.

    Good post

You forgot to say Calzaghe would give you a hard night as well (but we know you would murder him)

But thats the thing, Calzaghe never made anyone look foolish. NOBODY. He struggled with Sakio Bika, is Bika better then Froch? He struggled with David Starie- Is Starie Better then Froch? He struggled with Robin Reid- was Reid better then Froch? In fact the only fighter of note that Calzaghe ever looked decent against were Kessler and Lacy. Lacy has proved to be a hype job and Kessler is just a decent euro champ. So Calzaghe is going to suddenly become an all conquering, dominering force? Doubt it very much. Froch was indifferent last night, but so was Calzaghe for most of his career.

Additionally Froch wins the title from an unbeaten fighter, defends it against the former World Middleweight Champion and then fights an unbeaten top prospect. Do I really need to go through Joes early defences again?

Calzaghe would have beaten Froch but to say he would have outclassed him is ridiculous, give Froch some credit he's already bettered most of Calzaghes reign of terror with his two decent class defences.

    Totally disagree.

Kessler has proven himself a force at world level.

His resume is quality and much deeper than anyone at 168 currently, plus Calzaghe proved he fought down to the level of his opponent.

Yes Joe was shocking against Starie, but Bika and Reid are/where world level fighters.

But Lacy, Kessler, Jones and Hopkins are .....well, if anyone has a problem with them victories then you need help.

It's pretty obvious. It couldn't be any more obvious Calzaghe would win without a problem, he'd probably dominate to the extent they pull Carl out as Lacy should have been. He has nothing to worry Calzaghe, he can't time counterpunches and his hands are too slow to find the target regularly. He has nothing to stop Calzaghe doing what he always does, peppering him from the outside, getting in and slapping him about and moving away/tieing up.

    Jones? Jones? ****ing hell...

I'm a fan of Joe, world class fighter

But you can't give him props for Jones Jr

The value of the Hopkins and Lacy wins can be disputed on certain grounds too, not that I do, but there are question marks

Stylistically you'd have to think Froch plays into Joe's hands, but I can't see Joe outclassing him, no way.

The Hopkins, Lacy fights might be able to be disputed in certain terms but at the end of the day they are good, quality wins.

As for Jones jnr, yes he isnt or wasnt THE Jones jnr of old but the way Calzaghe dominated him was impressive imo.

Calzaghe isnt my favourite fighter by anymeans but and it is a positive but he is HOF bound and whilst his resume is disputable in some cases, he imo can retire with his head held high.

If you had to find the blueprint to beat Froch absolutely comprehensively, Calzaghe would be the choice.

Nope I think he'd be very circumspect. Froch would be looking for the big shots Calzaghe would box with his hands high, like he did against Kessler. He'd probably walk onto one or two and as we have seen the beard isn't quite as incredible as was made out. He'd have a chance Froch and could finish the fight if he landed the type of punches Woodhall, Reid, Mitchell, Hopkins, Jones and Salem landed. I'd go for a competitive Calzaghe win, not a landslide.
