Back in 1993, there was a tentative agreement between Riddick Bowe and George Foreman to fight for Bowe's title. However, the fight never came about due to George Foreman's outrageous financial demands concerning that fight. If I remember correctly, George demanded equal billing and half the purse money, and the Bowe camp balked! Can you imagine? Bowe was the heavyweight champion, and George had just gotten his face kicked in by Alex Stewart, and yet George acted as if he were the champion who could dictate the terms of a fight! Unbelievable! After George fought Pierre Coetzer, he actually complained about the cancelled Bowe fight after the match, saying that Bowe had made a verbal agreement with him and then backed out! What George failed to mention that it was his own outrageous, greedy demands that caused the Bowe camp to walk away. Riddick Bowe was even interviewed after George's fight with Coetzer and he said that "George kind of thought that he was the champion, unfortunately".
Foreman was the draw, so I'm surprised he didn't ask for the majority of the purse instead of "only" 50-50. In the end I'm glad we didn't see that fight. I didn't care to see Big George get his 44 year old face and body hammered by Riddick Bowe.
