After Kessler's post fight comments, I will NEVER root for him again.

Give Kessler a break - he was probably suffering from concussion!

I was surprised; he seemed like a nice, humble guy most of the time. When he lost to Calslappy, he didn't trumpet the hand injury as an excuse but took it on the chin like a man.

Yep, and as mentioned, he had the chance to bring up the hand injury before the Calzaghe fight and would not. That's class.

He also could have gone WWE last night with Ward and didn't.

    The guy's a class dude.

Watch the fights on Just!n.TV. It's even worse. All the european fans were ranting that Ward was running just because Kessler wasnt throwing anything. I saw Ward moving in and out of range, but not running. If anything, it was Kessler backing up the second half of the fight.

WHAT THE F*CK. THE GUY RAN INTO KESSLER WITH HIS HEAD NOT ONCE. BUT 5 F*CKING TIMES!

He could have beaten Kessler without resorting to cheating, but he elbowed, heatbutted and clinched his way to a victory. A man with no honour, and no integrity.

I hope they fight again and Ward wins without straight up cheating.

The headbutts weren't intentional. Ward was kicking his ass why would he intentionally headbutt him?

5 headbutts, elbows, running, hitting on the break from the clinch, running in with his head below Kesslers waist. It's a disgrace. The ref never said a word.

Totally agree, Ward would have beaten Kessler regardless but he tarninshed a great victory by cheating.

Here's one thing that puzzles me about this fight, and Kessler in particular.

He was hyped as a pretty amazing fighter. I will admit I have only seen the Calzaghe fight and one other one, so I was looking forward to seeing what this Kessler dude can do.

Btw I am Canadian so I have no vested interest in the whole USA vs Europe thing.

I see alot of posters whining about headbutts, excessive clinching etc, but from where I sat the headbutts were almost all accidental with the possible exception of one.

As for the clinching...have they not heard of the phrase "you fight until the ref says break" in Europe???

I was SHOCKED at how terrible Kesslers infighting was for a supposed star. What did he expect Ward to just stand in front of him and get hit? Yes I will agree that this particular ref was allowing more holding than some other one's would, but...

    THATS BOXING

You take advantage of what the ref will allow. I thought Ward's strategy was brilliant. And I really would have expected Kessler to understand that and be a hell of a lot more savvy than he was.

How can Kessler complain about being held and being hit on the breaks, doesn't he know the most basic of boxing adages "protect yourself at all times", not to mention why would his opponent stop hitting him when the ref hasn't said "break".

I hate to make generalizations, but in my eyes this was indeed a case of a somewhat robotic European fighter being exposed to crafty American boxing and not dealing well with it at all

Evander Holyfield must have been smiling down upon Ward.

I think the officiating was poor. How many headbutts have to land before it's not an accident anymore? The ref also liked to interrupt the corners with asinine instructions about his commands, he waved off a fighter when he wanted to go to the score cards...an all around incompetent ref...

That said, I think Kessler lost, he would have lost anyway, he was outclassed, but he had a legit gripe about the refereeing here.
