Well, Cal claimed HE got 10 mill and it was supposed to be an even, down the middle, split, no producers involved. Warren went on record as saying it showed how stupid Joe was because he would have gotten him more of the pie. So, care to enlighten?

It was PPV and he and Joe promoted it so he is not in need of money just attention.

Yeah thats the word from people in Pensacola, no better place to make money than heavyweight. Dont know how much money Roy can make anyplace else, maybe a B-Hop rematch.

do some reading. Dan Rafael reported that Don King pretty much stiffed Jones for the Trinidad fight the tickets were so ridiculously priced they did not sell it was mostly a papered house which King is a master of. They tried to ask 15,000 for ringside seats.

I think it's pride more than anything. RJJ probably can't cope with the fact that he just can't do it anymore. He's a boxer by trade and probably doesn't see what the rest of the boxing public does.

Wait, what if Chagaev beats Valuev again. Chagaez vs RJJ would not be such a stretch. I feel that he believes his speed will beat most of these guys, but if he gets caught. ****, if he can pull it off and win the WBA again and this time retire, I would be so happy for him.

I don't know about the Trinidad fight, but he supposedly got $10 mill for JC. If he can't live on that, even after taxes, I don't care.

I have a hard time imaging RJJ standing up well to Ruslan Chagaev's right hand.

Google only comes up with one report of money, and some Wales rag claiming the $10 mill figure. That is what he was guaranteed against Pavlik, and if you try and say he didn't get that on this board, you will soon be roasted alive since that was the main excuse they had for him fighting RJJ instead of Pavlik. :deal

Delusional is what I was trying to get at except a little nicer

It's probably similar to when Willie Mays kept playing for years and years on end despite not having it.

Hell look at Bernie Williams. Bernie still thinks he can play CF for The Yankees

Don't laugh, it could happen. Chagaev vs Valuev has to fight him next. If RJJ beats Ruiz then he is part of that never ending circle for the WBA.

No Norman Stone=No point in a rematch.

If you remember in 2000, Roy was crowing about wanting Holyfield. Maybe they'll mix it up.

I read somewhere the RJJ-Calzaghe fight did 225,000 buys and it was projected at 500,000. Big time disappointment, especially with only 9200 people in attendance.

Word out of Pensacola is Roy needs money so hes gotta keep fighting. He flushed a ton down the toilet for his rap label among other things.

Maybe a bigger flop in terms of promotion and what not but Calzaghe-Jones Jr did at least 225K where as Hopkins-Pavlik is considered to have topped out at 190.

So if you go by buyrates, Pavlik-Hopkins was a bigger flop.
