I'm not sure about that Rob.

He lost the first round against Hatton for me and also against Oscar, even though Lederman gave it to Floyd.... it was also pretty even against Shane too.

If Mayweather is to beat Pacquiao he'll have to produce something he's never produced so far, to my mind. Sure, he's more than capable of utilising the half step to the left, but that's not exactly a secret when it comes to trying to neutralise the left hand. Both Morales and Marquez did it, as did Barrera at times in their second fight.

As it was, Mosley was able to frustrate Pacquiao but still couldn't bank the rounds.... it was the reputed power in the right hand that discouraged Manny from being too reckless. Floyd doesn't have that.

In fact, as a result of this weekend's events I'm more convinced of a Pacquaio victory.

Manny would win in what would be a poor fight.

I think Pac has four rounds to do the damage on Floyd but if Mayweather comes out of the first few rounds unscathed then I think he would take control and it would become a chess match in which manny would have to force the action which would be exactly what floyd would want as he would be caught on the way in, yes floyd doesnt have amazing power or a great punch output but he is brilliantly accurate and just as quick as manny. I just think floyd will be too technical for Pac, Ive always thought it not just because of the fight with Mosley.

I am in no way saying Pacquiao will be exposed. I have always maintained my thoughts on what would happen in a potential Mayweather fight and the Mosley fight only went to push my opinion further and made a few others realise it.

I do not think you can be "exposed" when fighting an elite level fighter which is what Mayweather & Pacquiao are.

Pac did what he had to do.

It was a awkward fight - Shane was just content on surviving for much of the fight.

Its difficult to look good against someone - even if you are a destructive fighter - if all they come to do is survive.

See Naseem Hamed against Manuel Calvo.

Shane was trying to counter Manny with the right hand - but in open combat - Shane knew he could not match him - so just got on his bike and survived.

Manny was frustrated - but he did what he had to do.

Mayweather will probaly frustrate Manny even more - but can Mayweather meet fire with fire ? - I doubt it.

Manny could swarm Mayweather for a points decsion.

Of course you can be exposed if your fighting a elite level fighter.

Its all about the manner of how they lost.

Maccarinelli crumbling against Haye in drunken dance fashion.

Julius Francis getting bounced around the ring like Mike Tyson.

And Michael Grant getting wiped out with ease by Lennox Lewis.

However - losing a decsion in a tough fight - to a elite - like Mosely did to Pac and Hamed did to Barrera - thats not the same type of exposure at all. They are world class cos they held their own - but just got beaten by the better men.

I think your majorly under estimating how hard a fast accurate punch from Mayweather is. Mosley was not able to throw counter punches as he is pretty much done. Mayweather will be able to.

None of the guys you mentioned were world class fighters. They had already been exposed and the result of the fights were not a shock.

    Not true.

Maccarinelli was a World Champion - and many experts like Colin Hart tipped him to win.

And Michael Grant - was unbeaten - and was the big American Hope - many people expected him to be the man to rip the titles from Lennox Lewis and usher in a new American World Heavyweight Champion.

Julius Francis - was out of his depth though - everyone knew that.

There is a difference between boring and being sub-standard or poor. I can't say a guy was poor if he won every round and knocked down his opponent. Boring? Yes.

Mosley was very cautious and after he got knocked down he just wanted to do the 12 rounds. He mentally quit after that knockdown. It take 2 guys to make a fight. If one guy is just happy to survive then the fight can be boring.

As for the Pacquiao-Floyd fight I will go with Floyd even though I am a Pac fan. Floyd is the bigger man who has the perfect style for Manny. Styles make fights. Floyd is a better version of Marquez.

Mayweather's counters are indeed very fast.... but his power isn't up to much, by comparison to a Cotto or indeed Mosley.

Plus he's one punch at a time, both Morales and Marquez were prepared to stand their ground and throw punches in bunches whilst under fire.

That's not Floyd's game. I'm not saying Floyd can't win, but it'll take something we've not seen from him in order to do so.

I agree with most of what you've said, but I'm not sure about the bolded bit.

I'm not trying to argue that Marquez is better, but he's better suited IMO to causing Pacquiao problems. Unless Floyd stands his ground and throws lots of punches he's going to be walked down all night.

He coped fine against Hatton but his punches were thrown from square on and were often pretty easy to see coming. Pacquiao's footwork is at least on a par and shots come from all angles.

I disagree. Mayweather is better suited to causing Pac problems because he can and DOES do the many things similar to Marquez and probably does them better. Why do you think Floyd has to stand his ground and throw otherwise he will be walked down all night? When Pacquiao will be "walking him down" Floyd will be countering like Marquez does and slipping sliding. Those 1000 punches that Pacquiao throws against the likes of Margarito and Clottey won't be happening. When you are throwing and getting countered or missing, it demoralizes you and takes your workrate down.

Watch the 2nd Marquez fight. Marquez back pedals back pedals, Pac comes lunging in with combinations and gets countered. Pacquiao doesn't like it when guys have good movement. The key is to watch the footwork of Marquez against Pac and compare it to the likes of Cotto, Margarito, Clottey, etc. You will find that Marquez is constantly on the move (back pedaling) and looking for the counter. He also mixed it up at times by leading. Floyd can do the same and do it better imo. Floyd also has a much bigger reach advantage and good jab. He can jab from the distance and setup combinations from the back foot better because of the size difference.

Pacquiao has improved in that he has become a better boxer.. Its hard to bet against Pacquiao. Could he knock out Floyd? Absolutely he could. But I don't think that is what will happen. I'm going with a Floyd win. Styles make fights.

Sadly the fight doesn't look like it will happen :-(

Marquez didn't move and counter though did he?!? He countered whilst Manny was bombing him.

It's Marquez being willing to take shots that allowed him to get off. The shoulder roll isn't a good substitute for that, especially when it's utilised to throw one stiff counter.

The shoulder roll is a good substitute. Floyd will be countering shots he blocks or slips thats better than countering shots that hit you in the face.
