GGG is 34, but if he can somehow get Canelo in to the ring, when he beats Canelo, is that enough to be crowned the next fighter of the decade?

To me there aren't really any other candidates to be fighter of the deace, no-one stands out in boxing since Pac's 2001-2010 reign and it's hard to see past GGG unless GGG doesn't add 3 big names to his resume but age is against him right now.

That was a made up title by HBO hence only HBO fighters get the nod so it's bias in it from the start. He was not the most dominant fighter of the past decade because he could not beat the one guy that he did not have an advantage over like he did others.

The most incredible thing about Pacquiaos fighter of the decade award was how clear the obvious the choice was.

Nobody was even close to him according to sources. Saying that the writers were overwhelmingly in favor of Pacquiao taking the award. Basically saying that his greatness obliterated and drowned out everybody else combined.

Boxing writers of America picked him dummy. And said nobody else was remotely considered.

Ward is a non-starter, Kovalev too can't be put in there, neither have done a huge amount, Wards best wins came during Pac's reign, since then I believe he looked horrific against Bika and beat a malnourished dead Dawson.

Pacquaio was the fighter of his era no doubt, people forget this because he has faded into a great fighter now, capable of beating anyone to this day, but back then what he did was astonishing, well deserved fighter of the decade.

No one has lit boxing up since but GGG has a chance if he can pull in some big names and do what he has been doing.

Kovalev destroyed Pascal. A very highly respected fighter. Destroying Ward would be huge. He also shutout Hopkins who everybody said only got better with age, can't have it both ways. Beterbiev would be another good win.

Okay then why not Evander Holyfield over Roy Jones in the 90s. Holyfield was FOTY for 90,96,97. But they gave it to Jones who was never fighter of the year for the BWAA. It's for sale mutha****a. Mayweather has it in the bag

God you really are an insignificant bore, I would be honest, I don't usually get violent but if you acted this way in a room with me present ( i know you wouldn't but let's say you did) I would absolutely grab you by the ear, drag you to each person and make you apologise for boring people with the utter tripe that comes from your mouth, I would then proceed to backhand the remaining teeth that didn't rot away out of your mouth to serve as a reminder.

I do think Kovalev has a much greater shout than Ward, most of my dismissal is because you suggested Ward should be if he pulled off a win. I still don't think it's enough to get the nod though.

Ward, definitely not, he would need 4 more big names between now and 2020 and then maybe if there is no-one else doing anything.
