He's a real nice fella in the last chance saloon who has received an enormous and unexpected chance out of the blue. I like that kind of thing.
If I thought he had even a remote chance, I'd probably agree. Unfortunately, I just cant get my hopes up. I'll still be dissapointed when Povetkin Kos him.
Nice guy.Would love him to KO Pov and take a big cash out fight, then retire and enjoy his life.No more pipe bending for Pricey. But .....Not so sure..
So this is actually happening? Obviously Povetkin is the heavy favorite but he might be past it so who knows. I would think this is Pov's to lose if he can avoid getting hit in the first few rounds.
I feel for Price he took risks that a certain belt holder didn’t by taking on Thompson early in his career and it backfired on him. Part of me will be rooting for him, can’t help rooting for massive underdogs. Same time Povetkin is a quality fighter and he has long ago earned a right at one of the belts. Plus the sport always needs a villain and Povetkin is that guy.
Price can knock out Povetkin with little problem. I expect A KO victory for Alexander Povetkin in the Second round.
Given Prices record, he has been handed an immense opportunity against Povetkin, so would assume he will have covered every area in training that he can, because as others state this is last chance saloon for Price. As others have stated, realistically Price has one chance a early ko, after that he is in Povetkin territory. Price has nothing to lose (other than his consciousness), wheras Povetkin has all the expectation on his shoulders, has title shot on the line etc, so Mr Price go for it, do the Heavyweight version of Hearns vs Hagler.
All jokes aside. Let’s say Price has a real shot however long of one to win tomorrow. (I mean for all his flaws and shattered confidence he can still punch) what would be the best strategy IYO’s for him to employ tomorrow to try and win?
Clearly his best strategy from off is to just throw bombs from range early on. He should be doubling, tripling that jab to stop Sasha from coming inside and just throwing legit full force BOMBS with the right. As soon as Povetkin gets in range it’s lights out.
It’s boxing and one punch ends it all. In this fight tho there surely can be only winner. And it has to be povetkin surely? Stranger things have happened
That’s a good strategy I agree that he needs to bomb Povetkin out early. His jab however has looked awful post Thompson I think he’ll get countered over it very early if he throws it. Maybe he should stand tall keep his chin tucked and back up make Povetkin come to him and hope he can judge range and throw bombs as Povetkin moves in. Then lean over him and try and smother him in a clinch until ref breaks them. Repeat. I really don’t know but he has to try something. If he boxes he’s done, if he waits to long his stamina gets him and he’s done. He really needs the home run punch
