And it makes me believe that Wlad will KO Joshua. For one; Fury's pre fight mind games were insane v Wlad. One minute he was running around a presser dressed as batman, next minute he wss shouting at him like a madman, then he was signing to him and in between he was saying he didn't give a **** if he lost the fight. Talk about unsettling an opponent, Fury must be a nightmare in the build up to a fight. Wlad was completely out of his comfort zone throughout the whole build up. In the build up for AJ; Wlad looks the most confident and motivated I've ever seen him with absolutely no mind games coming from the AJ camp. Say what you want about the Fury v Wlad fight being boring or whatever but in my opinion Fury gave an absolute master class in head movement and footwork. He completely nullified the attack of an all time great who has 50 odd KO's on his record. That was ATG head movement and footwork whether you want to agree with it or not. Peter Fury said Wlad doesn't waste any punches so he doesn't throw unless he's able to set himself. The plan was to not to let Wlad set himself at any stage of the fight by giving him unorthodox angles and relentless head movement and it worked a treat as Tyson's performance was simply perfect. This was one of the greatest British boxing performances of all time. Such a shame he never got the credit he deserved. This brings me to Joshua. Joshua has a very good offence it must be said but so far he hasn't has shown much defensive head movement or footwork. Some will say he hasn't had to but my argument is that you've got to be a specialist in this area to stop Wlad catching you with a bomb. The only reason Haye survived 12 rounds was because his head movement on the night was very good. Joshua appears to be concentrating on bagging a KO and that's a dangerous tactic against Wlad for a couple of reasons. Wlads 10 year undefeated run came on the back of KO losses. He perfected a style that made it almost impossible for opponents to KO him so there's no guarantee Joshua will get him out of there. And while Joshua is going for a KO, he will leave himself open to a big counter from Dr. Steelhammer and if Wlad lands flush, I think he'll finish this fight. I think this fight is too early for AJ and I think his style is all wrong for Wlad. Fury laid the blue print and AJ ain't gona follow it. His best chance IMO is if Wlad becomes very old which is a possibility. But Wlad has enough confidence about him to make you believe things are going well in the gym. If this is the case, I think Wlad will win by devastating KO in the later rounds as Joshua begins to blow.
I honestley cant call this fight as there are too many questions about both of them before the fight. What does Wlad have left? How good is AJ? My fear is if the answer to the forst question is nothing then we still wont know the answer to the 2nd!
Tyson Fury definitely made Wlad look far worse than he is. People talk about Wlad not being able to pull the trigger any more but against Fury he had no chance to get set. Fury's footwork was exceptionally intelligent. Some people just don't recognize the mastery of boxing sometimes. Of course, the Bryant Jennings fight (two years ago now) wasn't exactly a good showing from Wladimir Klitschko, but I have to wonder whether AJ could even do as well as Jennings. The whole AJ phenomenon is based on KOs over mediocre fighters. He's never shown great bxing ability, he hasn't boxed many rounds at all. I think only two of his 18 fights have gone beyond the 3rd round. People are asking too much of AJ. Even the Wladimir of the Jennings fight should be enough to see off AJ. And if Wlad manages to come into the fight better than that he's winning this comfortably. AJ's only chance is if Wladimir really is shot. That's what a lot of people believe and that's what Eddie Hearn believes, despite his insistence otherwise. Perhaps they know something about Wlad's old injuries or something, or perhaps they are just hoping and reading too much into his age and the Fury fight.
It's possible Eddie just couldn't walk away from the astronomical money this fight will generate and therefore is taking a huge risk with his man. The Fury fight is a bad one to judge what Wlad has left because Fury's defensive display was so good and unorthodox. But at 41 and 18 months out of the ring, he may well be old and shot now. Vitali didn't look good at 40/41 v Chisora and he retired. It's a hard fight to call as we don't know what Wlad has left. But if he isn't shot, I think he's got a clear win coming his way.
Yeah, I agree, it was a smart fight for Hearn to take money-wise. Also, a loss to Wladimir Klitschko won't hurt Joshua's marketability as much as if his first loss came to a lesser-known fighter such as Ortiz, Parker or Pulev.
I agree with your assessment about AJ vs Wlad, but the fury fight was down to Wlads weak mindset rather than how good Fury is. When Wlad finally began to force punches out in the 12th he began to find his range, had he forced those punches out from the beginning he would have found a rhythm. Wlad was essentially a moving punchbag for 11 rounds, he came out like that from round one, it wasn't like Fury was making him miss and countering that put Wlad into a zombie like state, it was his own mental weakness from the opening bell. Otherwise how were far lesser opponents able to land at will on Fury...
Fury switching stances was something else Wlad struggled with. Very disappointing showing though. It should have been obvious he wasn't going to win a decision and had to get in the trenches.
All you people who insist that Fury mind****ed Wlad with mind games are so off mark IMO. It does a disservice to Fury actually. He totally outboxed Wlad and that's why he won, not because he trash talked and dressed as batman. Yeah it was boring but his performance outclassed Wlad.
Completely agree with hattonmad and legend x. Fury was tremendous on the night. Footwork was brilliant. With the combination of footwork head movement...unpredictability. height and reach advantage it made klitchko look worse than he is. Joshua doesnt actually have as many advantages over klitchko. You ve got to add fury on the nite used his ring intellegence something we,re not sure joshua has a lot of. Hes looks a classic case of everything hes learneds been spoon fed to him. Poor how fury still doesnt get the full credit for it. His views on life and his achievements should be judged seperately. I slightly disagee london ring rules which is unusual because i m sure i ve found myself agreeing with a good few of your posts. The thing with fury is...he didnt actually take anything after he started putting the work in in the gym. From cunningham forward. I think cunninhams speed caused him problems...the same reasons jennings caused slight problems with wlad. They re not bulky can get off quicker harder to read. Plus furys pretty inconsistant by nature. I think it was his best night v wlad but it was still down to fury more than wlad being mentally weak. Klitchko couldnt do his usual sneak into range because fury had something like an 85 inch reach. Wasnt mental weakness...his style just got nuetrilized. Because he got away with the style so long they didnt or dont have an answer for it. Klitchko was packing glass for years that never really changed...he just found a way to take very little back. Exchanging probably would have got him ko,d. Hes spent half his career not exchanging after he kept getting knocked out. Joshua always has that power/speed/combos Its not normal power/speed. Because they ve pretty much trained him first and foremost for it since the start. The boxings took a back seat. The boxer usually beats the powerhouse but his is pretty special if we,re being fair. So he does have a chance in their. But still favouring wlad. I think he,ll put joshuas head down. I think its winnable for joshua but dont think he,ll be able to pull it off. I think klitchko,s being underestimated slightly.
Fury hardly ever gets hit while Peter Fury is in his corner. Against Cunningham; Peter wasn't allowed into the states and Tyson boxed recklessly. Have a look at Fury v Chisora 2. Chisora doesn't land a single punch the whole fight. This is the same Chisora who had competetive fights with Vitali Klitschko and David Haye. Fury took Chisoras soul in that fight, Derek couldn't land a punch, it was s beautiful display by Tyson. When Tyson trains hard and has Peter in his corner keeping him disciplined, he's almost impossible to hit. Your assessment of the Wlad fight is ridiculous. Did it ever occur to you that Tyson got tired for the last few rounds - having defended with his feet and head intensely for 10 rounds - and began to move his head less. It appears as though Tyson is still the most underrated boxer on the planet. Watch the Wlad/Fury fight again and focus on Tysons defensive movement with the knowledge that the game plan is not to let Wladimir set. It's a glorious performance. Motivated Tyson beats Wlad 10/10 times.
If Joshua is as good as what some think he is, he should blast the 41 year old Wlad out of there. I don't care what people are saying about how Wlad looks, at his age this simply isn't a prime version, it's an over the hill version. He's had 2 fights in the last 2 years and has looked shocking in both, no matter what people say about Fury's performance against Wlad, I just can't see Wlad raising himself and pulling a rabbit out of the hat here. Joshua's still not convinced me, but I think he'll stop Wlad late or eke out a fairly dull UD against the usually cautious Wlad which may get him to hear the final bell.
If anything he is completely overrated. Chisora is a British/European level fighter and was pretty much finished after the Vitali/Haye losses. Watch the rest of Tyson Furys fights and take into account his mental instability and lack of commitment, then it's clear had he stuck around he would have been handed a good few losses at world level. He is Buster Douglas 2.0.
LondonRingRules you talk bull**** and are obviously a hater of Fury. He improved loads over the years.. you cannot compare the Fury of his British title fights to the one who faced Klitschko, Hammer, and Chisora in the 2nd fight. Fury but on an unorthodox masterclass against Klitschko he deserves a lot of credit. He had to do something very different from all the others to beat the man that no one else could beat. It was a very boring fight but it was a masterclass.
Yea you're clearly a hater. Have you conveniently forgot Fury was just 27/28 that night in Germany? Most of his poor performances came in his early 20's which is montessori for a heavyweight. Whatever man. If people refuse to ignore the brilliance of this 6 foot 9 freak of nature it's their loss.
