jezas.... rewatching the vargas fight and basically how hes fought since he has left 147, mayorga is shot and cotto is going to kill him. Mayorga at his best got a lot of power from his legs, with full body torque with those crazy haymakers, and was actually quite athletic with his balance, and would back you up and chase you down... and anyone who actually LOOKS at his fights at his best (cruz, lewis, forrest 2x, spinks) he OFTEN throws very nice, FAST, hard shots that are also STRAIGHT which is something never attributed to him... he used to throw decent straight rights. Nowdays, his legs arent there... he throws with his arm and his back, but rarely with his core, gets hurt much much easier, and will be dissected against cotto. I just have the tyson syndrome when it comes to mayorga... always think he will look like he did in 2000.... aint gonna happen.
Yeh Mayorga is definately shot, he has taken some huge shots in his career from Forrest, Trinidad and DLH. In his prime he was pretty athletic and could dish out some punishment from wierd angles along with having an iron chin. It doesn't really matter anyway as Cotto is already signed to fight Margarito in July according to Arum.
Cotto will hurt his body worse than Trinidad. No doubt about it. This fight is a joke and should not even be taken seriously.
for the record... i still love mayorga, and will be rooting for him always(barring mayorga vargas 2 lol) im just being real.
Same, I'm a bigtime closet Mayorga backer. Cotto's defense isn't flawless, but he's improved enough to have nothing to fear from Mayorga. A=B logic is terrible, I know, but Gomez's having taken punches from middleweights meant nothing tonight. The same applies in Mayorga's case.
How is he even gonna make 147..Cotto will stop him with a shot to the body..although, if by chance Mayorga does make 147, he will probably have to drain himself to make weight and it is possible that Cotto can stop him with a shot to the chin.
