Not really. Floyd measures distance with his jab, but he doesn't throw a pitty pat Shane Mosley type jab

That's why I said range finder.

 

Floyd is a skilled fighter. He knows how to fight tall at range and how to fight short in close. He is not a mid range only kind of guy like a Cotto/Margarito/Clottey and every other Pac opponent not named Marquez. All of those guys are only effective in that range. Floyd, like Pac can get in and out of range in a blink. Its not like Floyd is going to do what Pac wants him to do. Floyd will try and frustrate Pac which is not hard to do. Pac leaves a **** load of openings for a counter puncher so Floyd does not have to take a lot of risks to counter him. Its not like he has to cut through a Pac flurry to land. Get him backing up and catch him with a good shot or get him at the end of combo.

 

what's wrong with jabbing for 12 rounds?

Its a great and ONLY strategy to beating Manny Pacquiao.

 

Or mayweather if you think about it.

Those are just flicking/stay busy jabs.

Range finding jabs are the ones that measure the distance the other punches have to be thrown at.

Well, it could be, but it does so much damage that it actually becomes the arsenal.

 

My main point is that cotto has knocked professionals down with his jab, even clottey. It's a stiff punch meant to do real damage.

 

Manny Pcquiao is a sucker for the Jab and the right hand. Slow ass Margarito was landing jabs.

Clottey was landing the right hand at will when he decided to throw it. Pac is good offensively but his defense is leaky and will get him picked apart. :deal

Cotto's jab is much more dominant and effective than Floyds... this is obvious if you watch when Cotto fought a much better version of Mosley.

If floyd is able to UD Pac, it won't be his jab... it will depend upon Floyd's ability to time Pacquiao and if he even has enough power or if he throws enough to keep Pacquaio at bay and slow him down.

 

After watching Mayweather-Mosley, Pac will score a ko because Floyd will elect to come forward and fight in the pocket. :deal

 

Cotto's jab is stiffer, but he doesn't have the timing, speed, and accuracy of Floyd. Not too mention that Floyd won't just use the jab, but will nail Manny with the right hand as well.
