Ringside's excellent feature on Carl Froch has changed my opinion on the upcoming Ward fight.I have to admit I still feel Froch has his hands full and Ward is an excellent fighter.I had Froch winning a late stoppage after going behind on points but seeing him last night I feel he has a better chance. If he keeps that left hand up and gets Ward angry I feel he might have a better chance of controlling the fight. He had a real aura of calmness last night and he's got a better chance than I originally thought.

Needs to listen to Rob for a change this fight though...

I don't listen to these things tbh they skew your view on the fighters, I just look at their skillset, previous fights etc

Seeing what Dirrell (who I think is very good) & Kessler did to Froch I can't see him beating Ward

Why would Ward get angry he is a very smart fighter I doubt he brings any unecessary emotions into the fight personally.

Froch is a good fighter but I think if Ward just boxes him and doesn't have a tear up (which he has no reason to do) he wins a good decision.

I also don't think that left will be up enough either, old habits die hard!

 Has he actually ever in the history of his career kept the left hand up, I mean I know waggles it around in the air occasionally to see if it's raining

Honestly I didn't watch it but don't believe all this 'he's training really hard, harder than ever, look how hard he punches the bag' bollox

Ward most likely completely schools Froch, different levels of skill

Not going to lie for a moment I thought the same thing, I thought damn froch is training well but after reassessment I still think ward beats him on a 8-4 decision. Froch talking about elbowing ward when he comes in has lead me to believe that there will be a cut and froch has plans of roughing him up on the inside.

Going to be a great fight.

    Good post.
Ward will have no problem if it gets dirty.
    He's a dirt specialist.

I'm one of the guys favouring Froch in this fight and I'm not even British.

Carl clearly has come a long way since the AD fight and let's face it, all this Ward favouritism comes from the Kessler fight in wich the cuts (we all know how) played a vital role.

Looking at the AA fight, Carl did better.
Looking at the Green :)lol:) fight, it was one of the most dreadful shutout performances ever in boxing.
looking at the Bika (replacement opponent) fight, Ward didn't look that good (but no one does actually).

There's no clear sign of improvement with Ward, also because he didn't fight S6 class opponents (except AA)

LOL ok I was just asking, the problem with these progams like 24/7 and fightcamp 360 is they are designed to make you think A) the fight will be extremely competitive and B) you are going to get bang for your buck.

So after watching them I have found myself questioning what I first thought....The way Ward handled Kessler and the way Dirrell handled Froch (I think Froch was extremely lucky to get a decision) says to me that Ward should be able to take this.

By no means an easy fight but I think a 7-5 type decision is likely. I dont believe Froch can K.O Ward, as he had good fundamentals and appears to have his stamina in check.

Whatever the outcome, I think it'll be a good fight.

Ward UD or Froch KO are the only two outcomes in my opinion.

Froch will have to get a KO to win. Ward will box his way to a decision and even if its close the judges will give it to him. Froch would have to win majority of the rounds convincingly to get the nod. cant see him doing that. Ward knows what to do to get through. loks like only a KO will get it for Froch. I pick ward by decision.

Thanks was Going to make a thread about this myself, but you beat me to it.

Ward is dirty but very sly with it, and a lot of it is hidden by his technique.

If froch boxes like he did against Abraham it will be a close fight, in close a good dirty one.

Froch seems to have fell in love with his power though and I think this may his downfall.

I reckon it could well be quite a boring fight for the 1st 8/9 rounds, with Ward pulling ahead and then Froch feeling the need to step it up will really start to pile on the pressure.

I'm a massive fan of Froch but I just don't think he has the technical ability to cope with Ward. He'll win rounds but unless he really does land something big quite early on and shake Ward, a late effort isn't going to be enough to prevent a Ward decision victory.

That said, I am guilty of underestimating Froch. I thought AA was going to spark him out (huge, explosive punching power + Froch's low guard), but Froch absolutely shut him out with the use of that long, powerful jab.

It's my opinion that for Froch to win, he needs to adopt a similar style whilst being careful to not allow his workrate to drop too much to the point where he's too far behind to take a decision victory himself. This WILL be Ward's biggest test to date and Froch needs to him make that perfectly clear from the get go.
