After Seeing Bhop's Performance I'm Convinced He Should Not Fight Cleverly

I am very happy because Bhop won me some money!!!! :D
However after seeing this performance Bhop has convinced me that he's done...

Tavoris tried to out box Hopkins (I don't know what Sanchez was thinking). Cloud was successful any time he turned up the work rate, he hardly had to worry about counters they weren't coming that often.

If Bhop fights a guy who has stamina & who is willing to throw punches...it's over...Cleverly at this stage is too dangerous for Hopkins. Also did anyone notice that any half decent shot Cloud hit him with really shook him...I don't want to hear this s*it about rolling with the punches, Bhop was feeling it son.

ps I don't even rate Cleverly that highly but his work rate is too much right now..

I too think Cleverly would beat Hopkins at this stage, a high pace and output is what's needed against Hopkins at this stage and Cleverly is a decent and possibly under-rated pressure fighter.

That being said, I picked Cloud last night thinking he would apply the pressure but Hopkins took him to school, you can never write him off!

Agree and I had Hopkins to win this one. Cleverly won't let B-Hop off the hook on the ropes like Cloud did. It's a much more energy sapping fight. Bernard needs to be fed guys with similar (ish) punch output so his superior craft can give him the edge. Guys like Cloud & Pascal should be his limit at this point in his career.

I've said for a long time that, although I'd love nothing more than to see Bernard win another title v Cleverly,Clev's workrate is far too high and his conditioning is very good so he's very wrong for this version of Bernard.

Hopkins looked already old as hell in the rematch with Dawson and even his fights with Pascal he looks older every time and each fight could be his last which is no Aufpreise given his age

Clev would stop B-Hop now. Said it for ages and was called a fool.

And rightly so! You should never be allowed to post on a boxing forum again for writing that!
Cleverley is average, this is Bernard Hopkins we are talking about.
Cloud, Pascal and Dawson are all MUCH better than Cleverley, and hes beaten 2/3 of them and Dawson never came close to stopping him.
The corpse of Roy Jones jnr beats Clev.
You can bet that Hopkins makes Clev fight at Hopkins pace, Hopkins doesnt just stand there, its all subtle little feints and movements, and he reads his opponents so brilliantly they cant throw loads of shots at him, or theyre hitting gloves and air, then getting tied up and roughed up.
Hopkins beats Cleverley at 60 never mind now, and never ever ever ever in a million years does Cleverley stop him.

They all have slow workrate's and is the reason Hop avoided Clev to fight them...I'd favour Clev over Dawson, Pascal and Cloud as well....You blew it claiming Corpse of Jones beats him

No way is Cloud better than Cleverly, not sure about Psacal and Dawson is probably better but its a style thing. Cleverly surely wouldn't fight stupid like Cloud and let Hopkins walk around the ring and dictate a slow pace.

true, Cloud was pretty clueless when it came to figuring B-Hop out, but that's years of ring experience and fantastic footwork

to me, footwork is one of the most underrated skills in boxing, moving around the ring to work for a position and neutralising your opponent's strengths with your footwork plays a big factor for the best guys, and Hopkins has mastered it to perfection and despite being 48 years old, can still beat most of the top guys at LHW

Yes, his footwork is brilliant. He never ran but proved an elusive target. But even still Cloud had him on the ropes at times and he just let him off. I think Cleverly would throw a lot more punches, I think you would have to be prepared to miss a good few to land a few vs Hopkins and constantly pressure him to make him feel his age in the second half of the fight. Easier said than done but I do think Cleverly would have a good chance

B-Hop said Ward is like a son to him and he'd never fight him
