Shot...I have been saying it for a few years now. But we had a large group of people here claiming that Shane was still at the top of his game. I said BS, and prime shane would have beat the **** out of Cotto, but Shane "ONE SHOT" hasnt dont much in the past few years. I think that its time for people to admitt that Shane isnt at the top of his game anymore...And this is coming from a guy that is a huge fan, and actaully meet the guy some years back when he had only a few fights as a pro...Helluva nice guy, but he best days as a boxer are in the rear view mirror.

Is this an excuse for him losing to Cotto?

Shane has been past it for a few years now. There's a good reason he turned to steroids.

Shane hasn't been on top of his game since the first Forrest fight. He was never quite the same after that.

Yes, he was still an outstanding fighter, but never the same as he was when he was at his absolute best.

I agree that prime Shane would have beaten Cotto very convincingly. Hell, I thought Shane edged Cotto out when they did fight.

But just because Cotto got beaten down by Margo doesn't mean much with regards to Shane, as I see it. Just because Margarito beat Cotto does not mean he would beat Shane. I actually believe Shane would beat Margo, in fact.

Citing Mosley's decline as the only reason Miguel beat him is once again underestimating Margarito. Sure a younger Mosley would have given Cotto a harder fight, but the main reason he lost was because he didn't make solid adjustments until 2/3 of the fight was over. That was a mental failing more than a physical one.

If you really think Shane is shot, you're going to watch him pound Mayorga and think he sipped the fountain of youth.

mosely does not met a single criteria of what the word "SHOT" in context to boxing.

can mosely no longer get off and let his hands go ?

can he no longer take a punch and goes down from innocuous punch`s.

has he lost all his skills ?

can he no longer be considered a threat in a fight?

is he reduced to a punching bag ?

he passes IMO in all these catergories and would be competitive with any welterweight in the world.

mosley and the word shot in this context is simply a wrong anylysis.

Yeah this is some bull****. Everybody knows Shane is past his best, but that doesn't nearly equal 'shot'. A shot fighter couldn't have put together the 5-fight win streak that Shane put together going into the Cotto fight in which, BTW, he didn't exactly suck either.

Mosley and Margarito's comparative results against Cotto have a lot to do also with the fact that they're 2 completely different fighters stylistically and the fact that Margarito is a huge and very strong guy at 147 whereas Mosley is an average-sized WW at best.

    No

Shane isn't in his prime, but he isn't shot.

Cotto gave Mosley too much respect. At least as far as I'm concerned.

Mosley is done though. I agree. So is DLH. Get rid of them both!

But not Mayorga. I want to see Mayo kick Shane's ass, move down to 147, and take away an IBF title from Zab.
