After Stevenson-Dawson, ward doesn`t seem so great anymore, does he?

Ward made his reputation, and his legacy to date, with his fantastic Super Six victory. I NEVER thought much of his beating Dawson at 168, a weight at which Dawson was inevitably weakened, despite him denying so at the time. Ward should have moved up, or fought Dawson at a catchweight, for that fight to mean anything. On a tangential subject, Ward might as well move up to 175 now, he seems to think he's above fighting anyone at 168 anyway, and 175 offers some fresh challenges for him.

Ward is a great fighter, probably ATG.He won't fight Stevenson yet because of his inactivity, but after a couple of warm ups,he MIGHT fight Stevenson. And my money would be on him.

sorry forgot to mention i was talking since super six

but about super 6, i do feel that tourny was set up in a way to favor ward, this dont mean he didnt beat the ppl he did, i just feel it was set up in a way he would never have to leave home, nor would he have to face ppl outside this tournament...also it was a poorly set up tourny with all the havoc of fighters leaving and then other fighters joining

Ward's win over Dawson doesn't mean much anyway. It was fought at the wrong weight, it did little for Ward's status and it did little for boxing. I thought Ward could beat Dawson at 175 so I don't know why they fought at 168.

Ward is a very good fighter, a good champion. I wouldn't call him a 'great' yet.

Thanks for comment.I remember you after Ward-Dawson, Ward was climbed until even challenging Mayweather in p4p rankings. This is the issue of the thread not his credit as some implie here.

Lets`s remember Dawson and Paul Wiliams were subjects of The Ring p4p ranking and time proved noone belonged there.

I just said:Ward was too fast, to high ranked but as we see it`s not the first case for American boxers especially.

I think its the Bernard Hopkins effect. Hopkins himself said it best, "Bernard Hopkins ruins fighters. Once they get in the ring with me they don't never be the same".

Its like he made some kind of deal with Father Time where he takes his opponent's lifeforce to extend his own.

If Slappy Joe wants to call out current guys and say he could beat them now, why does everyone get so butthurt when Ward calls him out on it? Shut up, stop disrespecting the new guys, and enjoy your retirement.

Trying to discredit a guy like Ward who beat Froch, Kessler, and Abraham makes you look like a complete ******.

Ward was climbed at least three places until 2nd position after Dawson fight? Do you think is correct? My p4p is irrelevant.

I repeat Dawson was previously beat by Pascal at his curent weight. He was no p4p anymore.Wasn`t even a catchweight...He wasn`t fighting at 168 from 6 years and a half...
