    1. Pacquiao (tie)
    1. Mayweather (tie)
    3. Martinez
    4. Donaire

I'm impressed with Donaire, but I don't think he deserves to be in the top 3 just yet. As great as he is, he lacks the experience and polished skillset that the other three have developed over long careers. He'll get there, but I don't think he's there just yet. I rank Martinez ahead of him due mainly to a combination of longevity and the calibur of guys he's been taking on recently (the always-avoided Paul Williams twice, undefeated junior middleweight champion Serhiy Dzinziruk and former champ Kelly Pavlik).

And for those arguing that Mayweather's inactivity automatically takes him out of the race for the top spot...I completely disagree. Who of Pacquiao's recent opponents (since Hatton) was better? You might be able to argue that Clottey was live because he performed well (and arguably won) against Miguel Cotto just before the Cotto/Pacquiao fight, but that would be a stretch.

That being said, I'm not trying to argue that Mayweather's opponents have been the absolute best, but in my mind his recent opponents have certainly been better than those Pacquiao has faced since knocking out Hatton. Pacquiao's recent opponents were coming off of losses and long layoffs (Clottey had been off for nine months although he did look great against Cotto, Margo just re-entered boxing after being suspended for over a year and looked terrible in his first comeback fight before Pacquiao, and Shane had just been made to look old and slow in both his lopsided loss to Mayweather and his sad draw against Sergio Mora) while Floyd's opponents were coming off of impressive victories (Shane had just beaten the previously 'unstoppable' iron-chined Margarito, JMM had beaten every lightweight available and Ortiz shocked Andre Berto to win a welterweight belt).

If the argument is inactivity, that's fine - Floyd obviously hasn't been fighting as often as Pacquiao lately. However, if the argument is quality of opposition (at least lately), I don't see how the scale undeniably tips in Pacquiao's favor there.

I'm a big Donaire fan but he's beaten 2 fighters of note and one was like 4 -5 years ago. He needs to fight better competition. I can't justify having him top 5, on skills I'd have him top 3 behind Mayweather and Hopkins but based on resume both recent and historical it's laughable to have him top 5.

Yeah I like watching Donaire fight as well but to rank him higher than Floyd is just foolish. Not even coming at you like that, just stating the obvious.

I really hope he and Gary Russel, jr (from DC) fight soon too!

    1. Mayweather
    2. Pacquiao
    3. Martinez

With Khan & Ward not far behind. You can also argue for Hopkins/Vitali as well.

it's cool, that's just how i have it. floyd was great when he was active.. but 4 rounds over ortiz do not give much of an insight. who knows if his resistance has slipped had the fight gone on or if as most assume, he's still the same as before. so i can't assume that because it wasn't clear.
