How do you actually rank the four champion s of the early 30 s? Schmeling , sharkey, Carnera and baer? I ask the posters who have championed Carnera to put down how they see the fighters been ranked and if they feel primo actually belong s at the top of the 4. My own list
    1. Baer
    2. Schmeling
    3 sharkey
    4 Carnera.
This is based on if all 4 had actually met, how I feel the fighters would be thus ranked.

    100% Right!!
On quality of resume you can put
Risko above Carnera and Schaaf equal.imo.

I think there is justification to put them in any kind of order to be honest. Schmeling lost to Baer, Carnera lost to Baer, Sharkey won and lost to Schmeling and Carnera but They all lost to Joe Louis and Schmeling beat Joe Louis!

Carnera and Sharkey probably deserve to go last. How do you split Schmeling and Sharkey? And why, even though Baer did beat both Carnera and SChmeling is it so absolute that Baer is the best when Baer lost to Uzcudun, Levinsky and Laughran that Carnera beat. If there is a top of the list and a bottom, then it's the same kind of level.

I think they were all very good fighters. I think Mike Tyson when asked about them by Harry Carpenter even said "but they were still really good fighters though" when Carpenter said they were a weak lot of champions.

Baer never lost to Levinsky,he fought him twice and beat him twice.
Baer was 21 years old when he lost to Uzcudun and Loughran ,pre -prime.

I meant Schaaf (another guy Carnera beat) but wrote Levinsky. My bad. But Primo also knocked out Les Kennedy who beat Max Baer too. So of all the defeats Baer had facing Primo it was only really Risko that Primo had not defeated. Primo beat Laughran, uzcudun, Kennedy and Shaaff.

    I think that's a solid order.
I agree with the first two.
Not too confident that Sharkey is above Primo though.

Its a similar thing that's been done with the fab 4 of the 70 s heavy s and the 4 of the sugar, Duran, hearns and Hagler era. Most people naturally put ali first but some are undecided between foreman and frazier or Norton and Frazier. But I've never seen the 30 s 4 ranked together.

I refuse to give Carnera any credit for Schaaf.
Kennedy beat a 20 years old Baer.

    This is their second fight.
"Baer played with Kennedy for the first two and a half rounds, beginning each round, fighting out of a crouch for thirty seconds, before reverting to a stand up style. Within a minute of the fight, Baer had drawn blood from Kennedy's nose. Baer boxed circles around Kennedy, and pounded him in the clinches.

In the 3rd, Baer landed a left hook to Kennedy's body, that got Kennedy to lower his guard. Baer then landed a powerful right cross that sent Kennedy on his way to the canvas. Before he fell, Baer landed a short right uppercut, that traveled less than six inches. Kennedy was out as he hit the canvas, and was counted out. "

Very good, they are all very close, but if I had to chose it would be this. Braddock should be included.
