After Tonight, Would You Like To See Hopkins vs Roy Jones Jr?

Jones or Hop would finally be able to ride off into the sunset, AND get this off their chest and retire.

 

Big fight. Hopkins is the senior circuit legend, but Roy has massive skills.

 

Hopkins wins this. Hes aged better and I think people might get carried away with Jones win over Lacy, I worry its a last hurrah.

 

It would be a boring fight, but I'd like to see it. I think Jones could very likely win. He's all wrong for Hopkins stylistically.

 

Its the fight that makes the most sense for both of them. It should have happened 7 yrs ago , but better late than never.

I think Hopkins would avenge his loss, but RJJ would make him earn it in a close one.

I wouldn't call Hopkins past his prime, he dominated one of the top 160 pound fighters in Pavlik. I'd call him inconsistant. Jones on the other hand past his prime. It would be a huge money maker for sure. I wouldn't pay to see it, but I'd watch and it would make one hell of a 24/7 series.

 

Like I said in the other thread, I'd pay to see this rematch, and so would many, many others.

Yeah... Ali was cruel to Ernie Terrell, but Terrell shouldn't have called him Clay...

Assuming Hopkins hasn't aged much since Pavlik, he destroys this version of Roy.

I wouldn't mind seeing it as i thoroughly enjoy both fighters. But much like the Leonard/Hearns rematch in 89, the outcome just doesn't matter.

 

Even before tonite I thought it would be a good match up.

 

I'd have about as much interest in this fight as two geezers in an old home duking it out...let it go and retire, it's old and worn out!

 

Prime Jones is nothing like he is today and not even close. Hopkins, despite being old, can still hit very hard. He dropped Calzaghe and rocked him numerous times in that fight and had Pavlik wobbly in round 2 from a single shot.

It should be interesting to see how both handle each other now that's why I want to see it.
