After watching Gamboa vs Crawford, I see why Golovkin losses to Ward.

Ward's reach is shorter, ain't it?
Ring generalship and skill - debatable.
Height, defense, speed - agree.

A lot about GGG is subtle. He varies his speed of attack all the time, so that an opponent can't catch his rhythm. If you saw his KOs against Macklin and Ishida, he threw fake-ass slow punches just to hide the next killer shots. And his defense is subtle as well - chin is always tucked, good use of arms and shoulder - he does get hit but it's more due to his aggressive style: on a road line you have higher chances to get hit by a car if you are moving towards the approaching objects.

 

I'm a GGG guy but Ward would definitely beat GGG.

GGG will always have his punchers chance.

 

How does Gamboa have any similarities to GGG ?

ward lacks crawford's power, too. just a poor comparison all round.

Not saying GGG would beat Ward 10/10 times, but comparing Gamboa to GGG is ludacris.
Gamboa aint a monster puncher at SFW much less LW.
Gamboa was off for 13 months.
Gamboa relies on his quick in and outs to win, and his chin rivals only Khans in terms of eggshelledness.

GGG has shown nothing but an iron chin....walking thru Stevens shots....pressures off the jab and goes straight under the elbow as soon as he gets inside.

It might take 3-4 or 10 rds, but he'll find that opening and he will drive that hook to the liver and slow or open up a slick fighter....then he's the hardest puncher in his class.....and it's lights out.:thumbsup

 

50/50 against the second best guy (skills wise) in the entire sport? No way.

Ward makes GGG look silly. Beats him 9-3

 

Ward is a proven, great fighter. GGG does have some scalps, but nowhere near the quality Ward has beaten, tho in the ams he does have big names he beat. GGG and Gamboa fight nothing alike, and tho I think GGG in a way even has better defense than Gamboa, not by using your typical defense, but by positioning himself for the counter, GGG is greatly underrated as a counterpunch. He's just not some caveman coming forward. His IQ and offense is where he definitely has a shot of beating even Ward. GGG is not your typical pressure fighter.

 

Resumes dont win fights. Honestly I have been going back and watching the S6 fights, and the only win thats actually impressive is the one over Froch.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder apparently, and elevates the perception of skill as well. Its really easy to forget that the majority of rounds Ward won were actually close rounds that could have gone either way.

Its pretty telling that none of the people who are unwilling to admit anyone has a chance against him are able to articulate a reason why other than "he won S6 resume".
