After watching JCC Jr. tonight, is he a good fight or a wrong pick for Cotto?

Though Duddy isn't exactly the most technically sound boxer, he's a good puncher with a lot of heart that comes forward, and Chavez Jr. was able to out work him on the inside, connecting with most of his shots and avoiding a lot of them as the fight went on. Jr. showed he has a good chin and superb conditioning, along with the ability to pressure. Cotto has shown trouble with pressure fighters that have a one-up on him in areas such as speed or power or chin. Not only that, but Freddie Roach has studied Cotto well before.

He did however show some defensive holes that an elite boxer could expose. If Cotto's power can rock him or at least match him at 154, it's possible that he can win by outboxing him with his jab and landing hard shots to round out combinations throughout the fight. In terms of the opponent's strategy, Cotto may still be the same fighter with similar habits, but Steward himself is no Santiago noob and knows what he's going up against with Roach and Chavez combined, so a good strategy and technical progress is a sure bet coming from Cotto's corner.

I favor Cotto just due to the fact JCC needs a few more fights to see where he is at

Cotto is a 3 div champ thats throwing him to the wolves why not challenge a lesser holder first

Cotto would box him. No way in hell he is gonna brawl him. He learned that from the Pac fight.

Good fight for Cotto. I still see Cotto beating him. The way Chavez Jr. walks in squared up would get him knocked down against Cotto. Chavez jr. is not hard to hit and Cotto would set him up with the jab nicely.

Wtf. Chavez don't have the power that Pacquiao brings and Chavez Jr isn't a faster puncher like Cotto is.

Jr's a novelty act and nothing more. 40 plus fights and his best win is
duddy? So, now chavez is on billy lyell's level. Congrats!! He'll NEVER
be a true world champ and the bobfather knows this as does roach.

Get the **** out of here. I don't even want to joke about these things. Cotto isn't just on another level above Chavez. He's several levels above Chavez. This is silly.
