After watching JCC Jr. tonight, is he a good fight or a wrong pick for Cotto?

As someone said already, Cotto rapes Chavez Jr. right in front of his dad. This is silly. Cotto has only been beat by guys who have hurt him. Cotto is damn near impossible to outbox (outside of maybe Pac and Money doing it), and his defense is much better than people give him credit for. Chavez Jr. is feather fisted, he hit Duddy with just about everything but the ref, and couldn't get him out of there. Yeah, Duddy has some chin, but come on...so did Margo right? Chavez will find Cotto hard to hit, Cotto will get inside and land bombs....Chavez will crumble under adversity, Cotto will knock him out brutally. Actually...so would most elite 154lbers...

He's not ready for Cotto yet! He needs more opponents like Duddy then he can step up! Maybe a Mayorga.

Cotto beats the living hell out of him.

Yet another time, a tomato can quality fighter beats another tomato can quality fighter, and he's P4P material.

Put him in against Cotto and watch those "abnormal" abilities he developed suddenly in two months like Spiderman go out the window.

Cotto would utterly destroy Jr. If Chavez stood in front of Cotto like he did with Duddy his ribs would be smashed. If he moved, and stayed at range, he would lose a lot of his power, Cotto could stalk him easily.

Chavez can be caught with that right hand over the top, a punch Cotto and Steward seem to be developing, and if Duddy can catch him with some good jabs, Cotto sure as hell can.

Agreed! Talk about feeding the lamb to the wolf. Give Jr some time to progress and reach his potential with Roach before throwing a guy like Cotto at him.

WTF!:rofl Cintron over Chavez jr that we saw last night? You are nuts. Cintron would get beaten easier than Duddy if Chavez faces him.

Chavez Jr isn't beating any 154 pounder of real quality. Cotto beats his ass.

I'm looking at some of these comments and while I agree to an extent...I do feel that with Jr being long, tall and rangy I think Cotto would EVENTUALLY have problems with a more POLISHED product with his new team. Jr could beat Miguel down the road depending on how they both progress. Jr is a very solid fighter and has a lot of potenial. The foundation is strong and the questions regarding his mental strength in my opinion has been answered. He sought out making a necessary change in order to reach is potentail. He sacraficed out of the ring in order to reach his potential, and he's not there yet. He'll improve and he'll get better. Based on what I saw from him I think he's gonna make his own name and have a very good career.

I agree w/ the other posters. Chavez jr. is simply not ready to make this kind of move. This is like a tune-up fight for Cotto.
