After watching JCC Jr. tonight, is he a good fight or a wrong pick for Cotto?

The only way Jr ends up in the hospital by fighting Kermit is if Chavez at some point catches what Kermit has and jumps his ass through the middle ropes and on to the press row. Kermit is a fragile man who is on his last legs. Wouldn't be fair to Kermit to throw him in there with Jr unless he's looking for a payday.

 

cintron wuld still beat chavez jr even at this stage of his career. there is a reason chavez jr has a padded record. casue he hasnt fought anyone of merit. duddy is the closest it gets and thats pretty rough being that he is a b level fighter at best

 

Cintron is horribly underrated. Yeah he's a weirdo and doesn't exactly embody the warrior spirit, but he's a pretty solid boxer who throws straight, sharp punches with bad intentions.

 

Floyd's resume has never really matched his greatness as a fighter. Where Floyd has a VERY GOOD resume with the wins he has and the opponents he's faced Floyd is considered GREAT by what he does in the ring with regards to his talent, ability and skills. Jr has qualities in him that are easily seen...where his resume LOOKS GREAT it is weak but the potential is there and he's still young with a lot of room left to grow, progress and elevate if he stays dedicated. And he will......Kermit...:rofl He's soft and has one foot out the door. I mean that as respectful as possible b/c he's a pro boxer and I respect that. but his actions say a lot and it offers insight to how a fight between someone like Jr and him would play out. Jr KO or stops Kermit if the Frog felt "jumppy" all the sudden.

 

I'm also surprised he got past Angulo. Angulo is a warrior. He got past him because he is clearly a superior fighter. As would be the case(even more so) with JCC Jr.

Cintron may be flaky and lacking in the heart area, but he has more than enough physical ability to outclass Jr. at this point.

 

Charlie, Duddy don't have the power that Cintron brings. Didn't Duddy went life and death with a shot decline Campus??

 

:huh Not sure what fight you watched but Duddy completely dominated outside of one or two rounds where Campos hurt duddy early and they late where he came on strong in the last round. Campas cut him and damaged him for the remainder of the fight before Duddy won. That was pretty early and he was still very raw at the time. He's still raw now but he's more seasoned thanks to taht experience. Duddy is BIGGER than Cintron and even though kermit has power at 147 in that wirery frame at 154 his power isn't as devastating. Duddy is stronger and more powerful than kermit.

I think Kermit got by Angulo b/c of Angulo. Not Kermit. Angulo didn't look good and typically I credit their opponent...but with Kermit I think he got lucky that his opponent was off that night. Kermit vs Chavez Jr is interesting but an easy fight to predict. Jr wins this one easily.

 

Charlie, Duddy vs Campus was a real close fight that could gone either way. If i remember right Campus had Duddy hurt a couple of times. I mean dude a shot decline Campus?????? You think Angulo would have the same trouble with Campus???

 

That maybe be true but Cintron did beat Angulo who is way better then Duddy.

Jr. looked good yesterday against Duddy. I like Duddy, but he is what he is....... a novelty act. JCC Jr. has never been in the ring mano-a-mano with a guy on the level of a Cintron. Say what you want about his penchant for folding, but the guy has world class talent and has shared the ring with operators far superior in talent to Jr.

I don't see Jr. bringing the kind of heat that usually sends Cintron into his shell. Of course with Cintron, you need to expect the unexpected, so Jr. will have slightly better than a punchers chance, but nothing more .....IMO. Roach may still do good things over time with him, but I wouldn't like his chances as of now.

 

Well....lets face it.. Duddy won't be a great world champion but he's a very capable and solid MW who will give a test to anyone. he reminds me of Katsidis in a way. Raw power, strong, determined but limited. With that said MOSt thought Duddy would be Jr. I didn't b/c I knew even with the soft opposition that Jr has shown solid skills, talent and he has the blood line shared with a legit All time great in Chavez Sr. Angluo wouldn't have problems with Campus now but earlier on I think he could have like duddy did. I mean earlier on he lost to Kermit which I never expected.
