I'd like for Wlad to let Wilder-Povetkin fight next May/June and not derail it with unification. He should take a voluntary in April then fight the WBC winner in the Fall.
Wilder doesn't have the Jacobs to take on Wlad as he was already lit up badly and ktfo'd by Wlad in sparring amd Wilder, aka Buffet Squad aren't ready to cash him in yet.
For Glazgov, Wilder would probably be no easier to beat than Klitschko, simply because he doesn't have the power. If Wilder has a weakness its his chin, and even that's debatable at this point. Glazgov hasn't got the power to test it.
Wilder is the natural option, if available. Then Glazkov, the IBF mandatory. This fight is a mismatch, I believe the fans would rather not see it. Joshua would be a great matchup and big financial fight. This would be hyped all over. Ortiz or Browne, could become options if they win their next fights, although still a fight or two away from deserving the shot. The same could be said of Teper-Helenius winner and Parker. Please no Briggs, that guy is retired, is fighting exhibitions, can't compete with Wlad. Watching him being beaten almost to death by Vitali was already bad enough.
Wlad has nothing left to prove, really. But if he fights on in 2016 he should face Povetkin and Wilder. It looks like it could end up being Wilder first, then Povetkin. In terms of who he "should" face, a rematch with Sasha tops the list. Glazkov would be a stay-busy fight and a waste of time. I think it's unlikely that Wlad will ever fight Joshua, but if that matchup happens, it will be in 2017. Ortiz becomes a legit contender if he can upset Jennings, but I doubt Wlad fights him in 2016. 2017 maybe if Ortiz keeps winning bouts.
Wilder will fight... in January... Bronco Billy Wright!!!! :yep Live on PPV!!! Only $59.95 :hey Wilder Nutter Fans Will Pay It!!! :yep
Well he does have weakness in his chin, he has 0% against Wlad and Wilder hasn't fought anyonw. I think Wilder sees that Glazkov is too highly ranked and elects to choose someone of a lower ranking.
I believe it comes down to what Wlad wants to do. He has all the marbles. This is how I think it breaks down. Assuming Glazkov is Wilder's opponent in January. 1. Wlad could choose to fight Wilder in late April/early May. It appears to me that Wilder doesn't want to fight Povetkin and would welcome unification match instead. 2. Wlad could force Wilder to face Povetkin by choosing to wait until the Fall for a unification match. Therefore establishing a true number one contender for his belts and making a voluntary fight in the interim during the spring. If Wlad chooses option number 2. I think there are three possibilities for the April/May date. 1. Briggs 2. Helenius/Teper winner 3. Jennings/Ortiz winner Of course this could all change tomorrow if the Furious one springs the upset.
Agree with most of this but I don't think Wilder will choose someone that highly ranked to fight and that Wlad will take on Glazkov who is his mandatory. If Fury were to some how win, there would be a rematch in the spring.
I can see old wlad being quite happy to let wilder and povetkin slug it out (that's a great fight btw) meanwhile wlad faces weaker opposition in the teper/helenius winner, and then wlad fights wild/pov and then retires
