After years of hype, can we finally agree that Bute was just never that good?

Yes Bute was a hypejob. Froch's "amazing" resume just took a hit, two of his best wins have been shown up for what they really are.

As I said from jump street, Lucien Bute is, and has always been just another hyped European fighter.
Europeans want champions so badly, and lose so often, that they hype up 200 no-bodies per year whose claim to fame has been fighting and beating a record full of bums. I.E. Bute, Calzaghe, Klitschos, etc.

I agree with this. He was never p4p or anything but he was pretty good at one point. Some fighters are not the same after getting KO'd (RJJ). Doesn't mean they were never any good though.

You're jumping into the street in front of an on coming bus :admin

You trying to open a can of worms on purpose or you really that dumb? :huh

Agreed that Bute was never as great as his hype :deal Has nothing to do with Calzaghe or Klitschko except in your racist agenda ridden mind

The Klitschko's and other Eastern Europeans have dominated the HW division for a decade now. Is that because they lose so often? Come up with whatever excuses makes you feel better :good As an American, I can tip my cap and say "congrats" get ya next time, but you go into denial instead :-(

Can you name the 200 European no-bodies that are being hyped every year? Can you name the fighters that should be hyped instead?

I guess Kovalev, Golovkin, Provodnikov will soon be added to your list of over hyped European fighters that lose so often :nut

I think it was Froch's beating that left Bute psychologically damaged goods :hat

Agreed. The Froch fight took his confidence away. Once he gets that back, he'll be the A-level fighter he once was.

I was one of his harshest critics when he was undefeated, because lots of people thought he was the n.1 fighter in his weight class. I always used to point out that he hadn't fought the Super 6 guys.

Now because of the Froch loss and a close points loss to Pascal, people are saying he's not even top-level.

Bute used to be overrated. Now he's underrated. It seems he'll never get the right rating!

Superb post. The kudos should be going to unheralded Slick and African Carl "Kid Frocholate" Froch, who ruined Bute and popped Pascal's cherry.

Bute was a good fighter...remains to see if he can comeback from defeat....there have been many that have never come back from injury and defeat...i say give him a couple more fights before saying he is all that....i mean its not like he's running around like fatmouth broner looking like he just got nailed by the neighbors dog.

Yeah he was your typical hype job. Getting hyped up by fighting nobodies and first step up in competition he gets flattened. After seeing his fight last night I say he is done for

Bute was a very good fighter before the defeat, no question about it.

there have been many over the years that had a huge dive in their career when they lost a fight...

    Foreman.
    Naz.
    Vargas.
    Frazier.
    Jones Jr.
    Pavlik.
    Lacy.
    Bowe.
    Curry.
    Trinidad.

that's just off the top of my head. are these fighters all fake and overrated as well?

if you're American, then this is one of the most ironic posts i've ever seen on here. and that's saying something.

don't make me list all the guys the Yanks over hyped to **** only to fall way before the likes of Bute did.

nobody tell Froch that Bute is actually sh1te it might spoil his own LEGACY in his own mind.....

i have only seen Butes last few fights and from what i have seen he is actually terrible.....plus his physique is somewhere between Calzaghe and diego maradona !

the commentator on UK tv had Bute winning the fight on his card...MOTWYW
