After years of hype, can we finally agree that Bute was just never that good?

STFU......he was signed with HBO and his handlers sued to get him loose so he could sign with Showtime specifically for the Super 6.

He showed plenty of "glimpses" of the old Bute in the Pascal fight, nearly KOing JP in the final rds.....

Brahmer is fighting Enzo for the fake WBA title.....Bute should go that route, win the paper title and get his confidence back by beating other "flawed" LHW's.....then so long as he steers clear of the KOvalevs, he can beat the Fonfaras, the Clouds, and the Bellews any day of the week.:deal

I agree with this as well.... Today he announced he and his current trainer parted ways in a mutual decision. I wanna see what route he goes now...

When Bute stepped-up, he got exposed as a domestic-level fighter...sad but true,,,

    Bute was VASTLY over-rated.

Don't take my word for it. Just take a look at the Bute era threads and posts right here on ESB to see for yourself.
In most cases, you can cut and replace Bute with GGG and see mirror image posts.

One of the actual champ, Bika, who gave Ward his toughest fight so far, tougher than the Froch fight and the Kessler fight, was beaten more fair and square by Bute.

In an era of careful maneuvering, matchmaking and record-padding, it's almost impossible to rate up-and-coming fighters accurately. Take Golovkin as an example - a tremendous puncher and seemingly solid fighter, but hasn't fought anyone that could be considered a real test.

Kessler was never that good? That guy only lost to A-level fighters (Yes i do regard Froch as a level aswell, despite what haters say)

Just compare his & Bute's performance against Magee. It took 10 rounds for Bute to stop him, Kessler just circled around and once he had Magee hurt badly it took a round to finish him :hey Bute might cause Kessler a bit of problems, but if Kessler caught Bute like he did vs Green, it would be all over

I wouldn't make parallels between Golovkin and Bute like that. Firstly, they are completely different types of boxers. Although Bute was quicker, Golovkin is an all-round type of a fighter. Also, Golovkin knocked Bute out in the amateurs, so I wouldn't exactly "cut and replace Bute with GGG".
