Vitali. He's not the fighter he once was.

  3. Vitali.

I feel he's slown donw enough for Haye to outpoint him.

    I think Haye win 115-113.

I'm with you. 2 years ago I'd have said Wlad is the easier target, it just so happens that Vitali is closing in on 40 years and every month that progresses his abilities, reflexes and stamina are diminishing. Vitali is the better choice from Haye's point of view, I'd still rate Haye as the big underdog though.

Theatrically Vitali makes sense as well. If Haye won he'd hold 2 major belts, just like Wlad. The eventual showdown of this unification fight would likely be a global event.

Oh well let's not get carried away. Let's hope Haye at least manages to at least answers Vitali's call instead of going on another 6 month extended vacation.

I agree with you. My opinion was that Haye's best chance is to land something nasty on Wlad's frangible jaw, but it's easier said than done with the style Wlad has these days. PeteThePrince was making the case that, style-wise, Vitali's more aggressive and diverse -- he doesn't just sit behind the jab -- which would give more opportunities for Haye to counter-punch against than simply dealing with Wlad's Holmes-esque jab.

I think he's right to a certain extent, but where we disagreed was that I think Haye would take too much punishment before he could put together the kind of damage that would actually bother Vitali. Wlad would be harder to counter, but Haye might only need to get in one or two 'magic shots', which he might manage to pull off (but, again, I'm not convinced).

yes in his prime i believe vitali destroys both haye and wlad. but right now, we have to assume vitali will decline evntually, and the perfect person to take advantage is a quick athletic boxer.

i would rate it approx 51/49 in favour of haye.

i hope he answers the call. even if he asks it in the uk (good for me) vitali said he will compromise on that. and haye said he will compromise on money.

maybe i am being optimistic but i think this time it will happen.

Thing with VK imo, whilst being more aggressive, he still maintains a safe long range distance for the most part, where as Haye will need him to come into mid range to counter, so if Haye tries to counter him, he could end up reaching and leave himself open to counters, plus, as I say, VK's herky jerky style is not so easy to time, as he throws the odd feint at you, he is also adept and leaning back away from punches.

If Haye tried to move and attack him off the angle whilst he was in transition to catching up with Haye, that might work to a degree, but Haye would expend more energy that way, and you say, I dont think he would do enough damage darting in and out, to take VK out, then I think he would get more and more tired and VK's consistency would mean he would find the target more consistently as the fight wore on.

VK knows how to zero in with that right hand( Sosnowski, Briggs), he also has in intuitive sense for distance(long range), its just people dont always credit him for what he does well imo.

Last part was spot on BTW. :thumbsup
