I have always thought that would be a very good fight and from seeing Donaire tonight i think Agbeko beats him in a very very close fight. Obviously the cards would go his way but Agbeko would win in the fans eyes. Agbeko is a pretty big guy himself and is awkward as hell. Granite chin good power stamina and defense. I like Donaire but he needed to do more today although Narvaez was tough as nails but if he wants to claim number 4 p4p he needs to do more. IMO JMM jumped him tonight.
What??? Have you ever seen Agbeko fight??? His defense and awkwardness makes him very hard to hit cleanly. Thats why he has a very good shot at beating Donaire. Not to mention if Narvaez was Donaires size today i feel he would have made him pay for missing so much.
Narvaez had some of the best defensive skill I've ever seen. He was looking like sweet pea. Of course he could beat most of those guys just by being so frustrating. But who would want to pay to see him fight? As for Donaire I think Donaire might be the only guy with the technical skills to beat Narvaez, and Narvaez was a test to see if Donaire is ready for Rigondeux.
Agbeko gets koed. He's extremely open to get countered by any and everything Donaire throws. He's realistically the one that should have been in there tonight considering he's the best 118 lber (other than Donaire) who's not with GB.
Agbeko has good defense as well, is longer and has pop enough to make Donaire pay for mistakes. It would be a good fight to see him and Donaire in the ring together.
AGbeko would be KO'd but Donaire couldn't KO Narveaz, plus who knows how the higher weight will effect his power. We saw that Donaire became significantly less effective once he moved up. (power-wise.)
You base this exactly on what, if you don't mind me asking? Agbeko doesn't get caught silly, he has a lot of tricks in his bag, packs a good punch and gets through with them, although in this particular match-up I'd expect Donaire to move around and outwork him, not giving Agbeko counter-punching opportunities to a boring 116-112ish decision. Good fight, but bad style match-up for the fan. As far as a "mid fight KO" when Donaire couldn't or wouldn't hurt a career flyweight with no power, I feel your statement unsupported by facts. Agbeko is a like Hopkins, not great athleticism but very solid all around with a tricky style, sneaky punches, a lot of ring smarts and an excellent beard, that alone would give Donaire a headache, but a loss, I don't think so. I'd bet a lot of money that this goes the distance, but Arum will never match his fighter with "another Hopkins".
As if Narvaez was a no hoper to win against Donaire? He ain't a tomato can. What you expect? He'd get blown out easily? :bart
I don't think Agbeko beats Donaire, I havnt had a chance to watch the fight lastnight but from what I heard Nonito looked ordinary? Also a friend was telling me Naverez pulled a "Clottey"? In anycase, I don't think its fair to judge Donaire on 1 fight after something like a 6 mnth lay-off? I'll take Noni in a UD if this fight gets made
Agbeko punches too much to not get caught by one of those vicious counters from Donaire. This is not a good match for Agbeko.
