The thing was, last night felt beyond the usual bias and bs that's now part of the game. It genuinely felt like cheating and it was horrible to watch because by the 9th agbeko wasn't even complaining about the low blows any more, he knew the score. Reminded me of that scene on 24, series 6 I think, where the bad guys get the young asian's brother hostage and make him take a bomb on the train, he sees a security guard and tries warning them only to get "don't be stupid, just get on the train" he knew it was all over for him at that point.
It happens with startling frequency. Ask the British forum posters how many times they've seen someone with a heavily padded record imported from somewhere in Africa to serve as a punching bag and illusory prestigious coup for a domestic/Commonwealth/Euro champion. This time it nearly backfired. If Sidorenko was any chinnier (or Agbeko any more powerful) the imported would-be stooge might well have taken it out of the judges' hands. As it is, he had no chance getting an honest shake in Germany. He gave the Ukrainian's handlers a proper fright, anyhow.
I mean come the **** ON! It's amazing how some 'professional' judges can be that bad. It has to be fixed, I'm having a hard time believing that a professional judge could be that bad at his job.
Possible. Is that all it takes? Declaring oneself "based out of" the region they're aiming to contend in? :think ...of course, it could just be that the EBU employs the liberal "Bernard Hopkins" definition of European (ie not American). Austraian, African, Asian, Antarctican - they're all Euro level! atriot
Haha, I think it takes less than that. Like you said, they've imported people out of Africa to challenge for the European title. I'm sure even if Agbeko was training out of a British gym most of his fights, if not all of them, were in Africa.
The one that had 117-111 for Sidorenko is IMO up there in the Hall of Shame with Doug Tucker scoring a shutout for Navarro over Mijares. :verysad
117-111 I remember quite a few similarly horrible scorecards. The one that scored the first Chavez Jr./Vanda fight 100-90 for Chavez comes to mind, also the one that scored the first Williams/Martinez fight 119-110 for Paul. Oh, and the one that had DLH winning vs Mayweather. :verysad
