First I want to say Happy Birthday to my clone bballchump11 :party:party :hammertime

But to other issues, I've heard from close sources that Sergio isn't look good in training camp. I know this doesn't always mean anything, but I've had a suspicion that his weight jumping combined with age could be catching up to him espcially with his style based off athletism.

He jumped all the way up to 160 to fight Pavlik and became a good sized middleweight weighing in at 170 vs Dzinziruik last March which I thought was the best he's ever looked. He truely should have stayed around that weight. Now he's 37 and he's looking to go back down in weight which has historically been a bad idea for older fighters. He didn't look so hot vs Barker weighing in at 165 and I suspect he will weigh even less vs Macklin who's a big sturdy guy. Things could get ugly soon for Sergio :?

The end may be near. Idk if it'll come against Macklin, but possibly this year

Is Macklin really all that much better than Barker?

Its true with his style he should not be able to fight at a high level for much longer. Its amazing he was able to pull it off in his mid 30s. He is 37 now I can't imagine him fighting the same way much longer at all.

Don't we hear these rumours nearly every time for every fighter?

Sergio will be fine but his window of opportunity to do something great (like beat Mayweather or Manny) is closing.

I don't doubt he will have much trouble with Macklin and doubt he is looking bad in camp either.

With that said, he could've looked better vs. Barker, and Macklin is a bigger threat, so this may be a toughie. Some thread title suggested he's planning to return to 54 after this one so maybe he's having trouble keeping all those extra muscles and retaining that awesome speed he showed down there.

He might be getting a few wrinkles, looked in the mirror and lost his motive to train as he will have to change his nickname to 'el elegante'.
