I actually agree with you, but the evidence is not conclusive. He didn't look great against Brook, but don't forget that he was sick for that one. Last time he fought sick it was several years ago against Ouma, and GGG didn't really look any better then.
Look if Canelo waits until 2018 or later to fight GGG, it's fair to say that the fight might have gone differently had it occurred earlier. It all depends on how GGG looks in the ring and performs afterwards. But the plain fact is that you get less credit for beating a 36 yr old GGG compared to beating a 34 yr old version. Both are very good wins but there is a difference. It's just common sense.
I think Golovkin can stay on top until 38 if not further. He doesn't rely on speed, reflexes and athleticism, young man's attributes. He never really possessed those anyway. One can even say he was always on the slower side. His bread and butter are power, timing, distance, balance, ring coverage (cutting the ring off, shifting, power with hands extended) All of these you can keep well into your late 30s. So yeah, he stills steam rolls anyone up to 168 for next 2-3 years.
Maybe you have a point but even still at 160 in the next few years only age could defeat Golovkin,no way he lets an opponent beat him. We will get a better gauge of Golovkins powers in his next fight against Danny Jacobs where expect him to be back to business as usual,it's hard to draw any conclusions from the Brook fight cause Golovkin knew he was up against the judges and he had no respect of Brooks power so he just walked through Brook and in doing so took some unnecessary punishment from Brook,I wonder without that eye injury how the fight would of played out as I reckon Brook would do well against lesser guys? One last thing re the Jacobs fight that I heard on you tube that could make sense is why did Dann Jacobs not agree to the December fight date?according to the speaker Danny Jacobs who has never been under Wada drug testing before had to cycle of PEDs so the fight had to be March, have to admit I wondered why December was a no go?
Not many fighters arent declined on some level by 35. Was bound to happen. Still, its not a significant enough drop for Jacobs to capitalize on it... nor majority of the division. Imo
the fight should gave happened last year canelo and Oscar ducked the fight saying it needed to simmer
I can see it now. If the unlikely happens and Jacobs beats Ggg, he got old over night. At least the Gggoon's moral will be so low that they will disappear like the Pacduds did when Pacquiao lost.
For sure it won't feel like it would've a few year ago but then Jacobs,Canelo ect knew that which is why there's been a concerted effort to avoid him, what really bugs me re Jacobs is how he's been so unwilling these past few years to face Golovkin and has told anyone who'd listen that he's not ready yet for GGG and yet now all of a sudden after seeing the Brook fight he's ready but wants it on PPV without doing nothing these past years to sell the fight, the time to face him was after wrecking Quillin and yet he passed on it,he'll have only himself to blame if it bombs?
Im a GGG fan and there should be no excuses if Canelo wins that fight. GGG isnt washed up and is still near his prime. I still think he kos Canelo.
You know and I know that Jacobs has zero chance, take a look at the odds,Kell Brook was given better odds at six to one?
Andre Ward had a outstanding amateur career, won a Gold metal at the Olympics, and had the best SMW Pro career. Now, compare what Ward has done post-Olympics to what Golovkin has done. There is no comparison. Like comparing a Chunk of Gold to a hunk of Aluminium. Ward is the King!
Golovkin was sick and fought crazy against an extremely skilled opponent Lets hope we see the Lemieux version of GGG back against Jacobs
