I'm sure we will,GGG looked like death at the Brook weigh in and still won,by the way as an example of how inconstant some fight fans can be when Sergio Martinez weighed in at 176lbs at the 30 day weigh in before his fight with Paul Williams at a Catchweight of 158 many were saying he's a huge middleweight and yet somehow Brook who weighed the same was a small middleweight/beefed up welter, when it suits the narrative right?
Glad to hear that, but I suspect the majority of GG fans would use it as an excuse. I think it's important to point out that Canelo has been boxing professionally for longer than Golovkin. Canelo made his pro debut in 2005, Golovkin in 2006. Canelo has boxed 341 pro rounds compard to Golovkin's 160 pro rounds. (that's over twice as many rounds boxed professionally for Canelo) Golovkin's has had only 36 bouts compard to Canelo's 50 bouts. Age is one thing, but experience and wear and tear in the ring is another. Golovkin is 8 years older than Canelo, but started his pro career later than Canelo did. Golovkin had a longer amateur career, but Canelo started boxing as an amateur at 13 years old. Golovkin was a full grown man when he started boxing, whereas Canelo was a kid. Age is really just a number, but when you look at how long each of them have been boxing and when they started it's very similar. It's hard to calculate how not boxing in your teens vs boxing in your teens affects your growth and how you age, but suffice to say that it's hard to use age as an excuse comparatively when their careers spanned roughly the same amount of years.
Golovkin looked like himself in Round 1 of the Brook fight. He thoroughly outboxed Brook. After that he did what he did in the past against Wade when he had no respect for his opponent and walked through him. I really do not think Brook was his turning point like Jennings was for Wlad.
This has be taken on a fighter by fighter basis. These fighter's definetly declined at 35. Holmes lost to Spinks , Tszyu to Hatton , Hagler to Leonard , Jones to Tarver . While Sergio Martinez and Hopkins primed around 35 /36 . Golovkin seems to be at top of his game but nearly 400 amatuer fights and a active schedule with training camps would have to take its toll . He has changed his style to seek and destroy of Hagler in his last 2 fights. This can be dangerous as it can lead to fighter be a sitting duck for defeat from burnout like Hagler vs Leonard , Mathew Saad Muhummad vs Dwlight Braxton . No fighter can defy age but he still has enough fortitude to be a force .
