40?? i know the majority of fighters above the welter limit mature well....35 perhaps, although, the mental maturity assures them the ability to read yonger fighters.... psyche them, be better schooled and crafty.... yet the matter we still take little noticee of is the enduring effects of a lenghty career. There are pros and cons regarding the topic mate... I guess money is the way to a mans security in later life... and often placed above personal welfare at the current time. The thought of seeing another young fighter, 35-40 drop dead bothers me.... half his life is basically terminated.
That would eliminate a lot of the heavyweight division in this country and elsewhere as was stated. You cannot limit or rate people by age. If 35 is the age, then Hopkins is almost 9 years over what would become a limit. And he has had his best wins after the age of 35. He became great after 35. Hagler and Hearns and Leonard and Duran all became great before 35. Just matters who the individuals are fighting.
