"People don't realise there's no money in amateur boxing at all. You do it for the glory and the prestige."

Well we know that's not true. Callum Johnson even said so, Bunce has said so on many occasions etc etc. Maybe he means in comparison to the Pro game, at the top levels. And it is different I guess, its a wage, more than lump sum purses.

He's still considering going pro anyway. I'm not even sure how good he will be as a pro

I remember poor Dean Macey, that guy got ****all for his career and he was one of the best in possibly the hardest of all disciplines, 4th place twice at the Olympics in decathlon is impressive really, he wasn't rewarded like he possibly should've been

Agogo looked fragile even with the head guard on, can't see him doing too well in the pro's.

highest pay is 27k a year and the only people who get to earn that are the fighters who have medalled at major tournaments, however through sponsership etc they will make a good amount

What amateur boxers have major sponsor deals..? None.

They rely heavy on lottery funding.

Also do you understand how Lottery funding works..? It's not just 30/40 grand whoever how much in the bank!

The money is distributed to pay for medical support, training, travel and more bull****.
