I dont know if you guys saw what Stephen A had to say on ESPN First Take this past monday, but he made a good point (which is rarely done by any major ESPN analyst about boxing). He said that all boxing fans should just completely STOP paying for any and all PPV fights, no matter how big the fight is. Perhaps by doing so, it would change the overall landscape of boxing in terms of big fights being made when WE want them. What do you guys think? Hell, if I can save $60 and catch the HBO replay a week later, I'm ok with that. Also, now that I think about it, I seem to remember back in the late 80's and early 90's when HBO showed damn near all the big fights. Let's just go back to that.
In a way, yes, but I think the aura of the sport keeps us buying. Some people are diehards. Some just like fight parties. Some like gambling. Plus Stephen A and Skip agreed on something which is rare. On another note, Golden Boy has really been putting together some good cards over the last couple of years. Even smaller companies like Main Event and DiBella and even Gary Shaw have done decent with their fighters even if many are less famous.
i've been saying this for years. last big fight i ordered....floyd/cotto....one before that....bhop/joppy. boycott pay per poo.
no because I like to brag about Mayweathers PPV number and I like to feel like I am a part of it #moneyteam
No what the sport needs and this will make a huge impact is we need to have a rule in which a fighter can not sign any long term contract with any network.
I've been saying this for years. If you keep throwing money at them, they will keep ****ing you over. It's that simple really.
