Yep! Were any of you boxing fans listening on the internet to that boxing radio show every Thursday night, 9pm et, "Through the Ropes"? They always show it on Fightnews & about 8:30 tonight I log on, go to Figthnews & there it is...Kelly Pavlik will be the guest tonight. At 9pm, I call the station & was on hold for only 10 minutes, cause KP came on right away & I was the 1st caller to ask my question.
I almost couldn't talk. But asked him why he fights orthodox, when I know he's ambidextrous & writes left handed. He said even though writes lefty, in sports, baseball, boxing, etc., he has more power from the right side. He said at times in fights when he's lost some balance, he'll go to the left side briefly. He went on for a good 2 minutes answering the question.

I was in shock. Don't know what will happen some day when I get to meet him in person.

    ;)

Damn Jet!!! First you got to talk to Smoger, and now the man himself???

Best I ever did was had my name and question up on Rafael's ESPN deal and Pav answered my question. It was cool too, but not at all like talking to him on the phone!

Did you tell him you're JetSki??

Still can't believe it! Its a step in the right direction to meeting him one day. KP mentioned his PR guy, John D'Altorio, who I've spoken to on the phone a few times. Once I get my painting ( or 2) of KP done, I think John could help me arrange a meeting. Even "Pavlik Fan" here at ESB, who lives in Youngstown, said he could help me to meet him.

I have faith that it will happen. The throught of one of my paintings hanging in his home blows me away!!!

    :good

Damn! Why don't you guys check out that talk show! And I almost missed it myself.

No, no Jetski stuff. JUst said how ya doin? Told him I'm a huge fan & got into my question. They cut me off after that, then I turned up my speakers & heard myself, due to delay & listened to the whole interview with him, which lasted only about 10 minutes.

I gotta go do something, so I be back in an hour or so & we'll BS some more.

    :happy

    (((((KP by KO)))))

Pavlik once answered two of my questions on an internet chat thing he did before the Taylor fight, but this blows that away by far! And actually it's a question I've always wondered about Kelly. Good **** JETSKI, you're the man.

    :thumbsup

I was, damn it!:-( But at least I got the question out where he could understand me.

Thanks, Man, about the artwork. The support helps. I'll get my butt in gear.

    :good

I almost feel as good as I did about midnight, back on Sept. 29, 2007 in AC.

Do you guys think Pavlik is the next American superstar? I thought he would be the natural successor to De La Hoya. I hope he can do, but I don't know if he gets mainstream attention in America. Does he? And if so, to what extent? Similar to who, I mean.

    Thanks, guys.

He always seems like a realy nice man. I'd like to meet him sometime. I think next year I'm gonna try and attend as many fights in America as possible, so maybe it will happen. Hopefully it will.

Plan a trip to Youngstown when he has an appearance, he always makes himself available. He does Youngstown proud. A local artist just did a painting of Kelly for a local museum, it will be on display in Atlantic City fight week, then return to Youngstown for display. Copies of the painting can be purchased for like $20. I haven't seen it yet, but there is one waiting for me at my house, I'll see it later tonight.

Lockett is a good fighter and he comes to fight. It probably won't be a classic, as he isn't in Pavlik's league, but he will bring a good fight. I imagine it will be a really tough fight for maybe 6 rounds.

Plus, Kevin Mitchell is on the undercard. I don't think he has ever been shown in America before. He's a really tough, entertaining kid from England. He's definetly worth watching.

Dunno about the rest of the card, mate, but for those two alone, it's worth it.

EDIT: Isn't Ponce vs. Lopez on the udnercard too? If so, that should be another good fight. Expect a KO in that one.

I hate Ponce. He is one dimensional.

I just posted some info about the museum for him in another thread since they have a room full of sports art.
