He took a cherry pick gone wrong with Tyson fury 1. Wasted some of his health in 2 more fury fights, when he was supposed to instead pull the wool over our eyes and fight Anthony Joshua the more talk than less action man. Deontay, jay deas, mark Breland, were supposed to be the wrecking ball crew. Unstoppable and overrated. Deontay career was supposed to stay perfect!!! His O was not supposed to go! He should've been top of the (boxing) charts with millions chanting his name: BOMBZQUAD!!!!!!!!!!. And to go down as the flunkiest great of all time, the hardest hitting pound for pound #1, tbe, and insert accolades here:______. I'm just sour grapes because I like an underdog story. But there is no taking away or diminishing of what usyk did today. He beat the champ twice in incredible fashion= not a hypejob. Neither is fury= took Deontay to almost the brink of death twice. To be real, these are the real Gladiators of the heavyweight division, usyk and fury. Fury should come out of retirement and take on the beast from Ukraine. Nevermind all the sarcasm I spread about Deontay wilder, I was just grasping for straws.

Fury vs usyk= the real deal. Cause like Chris Algieri said "you can't count olex out of a fight no matter how little he is, he continues moving his head when he is hurt, and he is hard to followup on because if you win a round against him he comes back and beats you the next one."

Off the top of my head, Oscar de la hoya was supposed to be a hypejob too, destined to never lose, but somewhere his career went south (just like Deontay) Deontay has a chance to pick it back up again against helenius if he wins that would make him most likely the 3rd best hw in the world.

The tv analyst called usyk, Joshua "2 of the 5 best heavyweight s," so that means (I'm assuming for Mannix) Ruiz, Ortiz, and Wilder would wind down the top five. Excluding fury that is.

Just asking, after my dumb afterthoughts of Wilder, where does the winner from Robert helenius vs Deontay wilder go from here?

    Did he ever!

One of the risks of cherry picking, is that you don't always get it right, and people don't feel very sorry for you if you don't!

I actually think Wilders stock as a person went up post Fury. At the very least he takes his beating like a man, provides for his family and fights his heart out being dangerous the whole time while being severely south of his opponents weight.

Gonna have to disagree with the narrative Wilder was just a cherry picking weasel. Literally fought the man who whooped his ass when he could have sailed off into the sunset. Most fighters won't do that.

I frankly doubt anyone would've been willing to fight Fury not only three times, but give us such exciting fights as well. Wilder gave it every fiber of his being.

No one in this forum wants a AJ v Fury trilogy, and as much as Usyk v Fury needs to happen, I just cannot see myself more excited than Fury v Wilder 3 had me.

Yeah but this sub hates Wilder, so they're gonna go with the narrative that suits their agenda.

The 1st fight with Fury was absolutely a cherry pick. After the draw (robbery), Wilder did to his credit give Fury a rematch. After that drubbing he had nowhere to go but a 3rd fight with Fury. Ironically if they had fought AJ instead of Fury, you would have to give Deontay a good chance at knocking out AJ.

Wilder shouldn't fight Fury again after 1st match. Then he would be regarded as good as Fury. He would be laid lots of money fighting AJ.

Andy Ruiz Jr destroyed heavyweight division by knocking out AJ.

Takes his beating like a man? Did you forget the accusations of treacherous trainers, gypsy magic, loaded gloves, wobbly gloves, poison, dented heads, and crushing costumes.

    Guys is a simp.

Chisora, Parker, Whyte, Joyce, Helenius, is this a serious question? He absolutely did not have to fight Fury 3x but he literally took him to court to try to get revenge despite a savage 1 sided loss.

Probably would have but his antics after the 2 fights made it the opposite, i still remember him doing a long 2 hour interview with Barbershop Lame both saying how they want to paralyze Fury for life & laughing all the way,

Great human being that Wilder is.

I can't stand Wilder's antics, accusations, and legal wranglings out of the ring, but that third Fury fight was the most exciting heavyweight title fight in decades. That was an absolute banger! I'm glad Wilder is coming back too. He may be one dimensional, but that one dimension he possesses is dangerous enough to always make things interesting and exciting.

I really hope we see fury vs usyk, fury vs joshua, wilder vs joshua, and wilder vs usyk in the next 18 months.
