Absolutely agree. After all the excuses and complaining he put himself through hell in that last fight and absolutely redeemed himself for me.
Wilder should go back to crushing cans he is good at it, 39 year old helenius could still be too young for him.
Wilder gave his all in the trilogy with Fury having to be saved from himself in the second fight and going out on his shield like a Boss in the third fight. Let’s not forget either after the dubious draw in the first fight he gave Fury the rematch . Fury is still the only man to beat him and Wilder still has some huge fights left before he retires . Wilder has said some stupid crap but there are not many boxers who have not .
Yes it is a very serious question. How many of those fighters would get into the ring with Wilder without a belt on the line? Why would Wilder pick any of those over another big money fight and a chance at the title against Fury? Wilder didn't fight Fury again and again just because it was the manly thing to do.
It was a goofy question because he did not HAVE to fight Fury again no matter how many times you guys repeat yourself lol. He literally could have fought any of those guys (Whyte and Chisora both openly stated they wanted to fight Wilder, hell even Ruiz said he'd like to fight him), he could have fought a bunch of bums for easy paydays or he could have even retired. Just say you don't want to give him any credit for trying to avenge his loss.
People are really in this thread trying to convince everyone rematching the guy who brutally knocked you out is a cherry pick. It's comedy. There are plenty of things you can criticize Wilder for, but rematching Fury isn't one of them.
It's funny, prior to the 1st Fury/Wilder fight alot of Fury fans were saying Fury could come off the couch and beat all the top heavyweights. Fury himself made this claim. Instead, he comes back and has a few warm ups and I can't blame him. That was the right thing to do. Once the fight was penned with Wilder, some of the sames fans started with the narrative that Fury suffered mental issues, was out of shape and a drug addiction. All of which were not Wilder's concern. Fury fans pre-loaded their excuses so that if Wilder won, they wouldn't have to give Wilder credit. My question to you is, how did Wilder cherry pick the 1st fight when he didn't know if Fury was gonna come back in top form? Fury had plenty of time to get in shape. Wilder had nothing to do with what Fury was or wasn't doing. Oh, let me guess, Wilder took a gamble that Fury wouldn't be 100%. LOL, Ok
In the ring, he went out on his shield, twice. Especially that last time. He didn't quit. He didn't mentally check out, waiting for the end to come, knowing it was lost. He kept trying with every ounce of everything he had. His ring performances showed a ton of heart. At this point, I'd like to see AJ vs Wilder. Would be an exciting fight, still be a big payday for both. If they both want to sail off into the sunset after, fine, go ahead, but they should really do this one.
I think you’re missing what I’m saying, I didn’t say he was someone to admire or that he was good I was giving him the bare credit he deserves.
I was either lurking or a member of this forum back then. You are 100% correct that several Fury fans weren't the least bit concerned about his chances with a comeback, then all of a sudden they had various built in excuses to control the narrative.
