Can't we just have AI score the rounds instead of dumb old men in boxing?

The same biases in our current processes would just get repeated by the AI judge.

We need to fix incentives so that judges get rewarded for good decisions with more big fights and we need to have certain standards for the origin of the judges in international fights.

    People paid off these judges..

They can easily pay the programmers

Programming leaves an imprint, if there was a corrupt code written into it then it would be very easy to find. Technology is a good idea, humans make too many errors of judgement

I already made a thread about it.

Go to Instagram and check Jabbr.AI, a new startup. I am sure it will post results for Loma-Haney within the week.

Nah Bob Arum would get some guy to tweak the AI to favour whatever fighter he wants (usually the US guy)

AI? maybe in another few years.

In the mean time maybe World Championship fights should require the judges to justify their card with separate transcribers straight after handing in their card.

Just one or two minutes - would be illuminating for sure.

Different AIs will be biased towards different fight styles while still having a fair and objective rule set. Same issue with boxing rules in general, but different ones will be applied to different fights, lol.

I suppose at least people will be able to agree upon what it is programmed for.

We are already holding AI to a higher standard than human judges. Julie Lederman never had to explain herself. :)

You can easily program an AI to be biased. But you can't program it to be objective and see all aspects of the game and the fighters' behaviour/reactions.

In the near future (10 years at absolute most, being extremely generous) you will be able to program to do that. AI is going to advance very quickly in the near future, even if it doesn't meet all of the expectations it's supposed to. Jabbar is already a pretty good judge (better in most situations than the average pro judge on these high profile cards, anyway) and the technology is in its infancy.

I don't think AI will do as much as we believe it will. And it's not even needed, there are enough areas where it can replace people for good, here I also include additional technologies that aren't necessarily smart, but just more effective or simply do dangerous jobs. This will allow people to discover newer professions and concentrate more on themselves, which can make them smarter, better, and with higher morale. Of course, we can degrade even more, it depends on many things.
