Out of 600 ranked amateurs in 10 different weight classes, USA only has three ranked boxers in their weight class top 60.

Those are Rau'shee W arren, Joseph Diaz and Errol Spence.

Even Sweden doubles USA in the AIBA ranking, what the hell is going on in the amateur scene over there, guys? :blood

Our guys are getting into the pro ranks at an earlier age while the Euros continue to stay in amateurs well into their 30s.

gold medals dont mean **** anymore anyways.

Mexicans are more prone to turning pro early and they have at least one ranked in the top 60 internationally, in ALL weight classes.

USA Boxing is in shambles is what happened. The organization is perpetually on the verge of collapse, it feels like.

    :-(

Its really unfortunate. There are a ton of good pro gyms in USA, and I'd imagine, a ton of good trainers. The fact that there is no good amateurs, nor a good amateur programme, just tells us the future for US boxing is in dire straits.

It really just has to do with mismanagement and poor leadership. There's nothing wrong with the quality of boxers in the US, there's a lot of very good ones. But the organization that runs the show is a joke and a lot of people decide to just not bother dealing with them as soon as they have the experience and the opportunity to turn pro; since that's what a lot of kids who have grown up doing it will be wanting to do anyway.

the USA has been unindated with MMA schools that teach boxing so people tend to go to those instead of actual gyms due to how many there are and that chances are one is closer to your house then a real gym.

the result is most amatures arnt sparring boxers in training but instead MMA practicioners.

and at an mma gym, the best mma standup dude is usually no better then some of the worst at an actual boxing gym.

the worst of it all is that in most these gyms boxing class isnt even a real boxing class, its something more along the lines of a warm up for the students that are there to learn mma.

mma gyms train their boxers like **** and they offer them **** opponets to spar with, so the result is shitty amatures.
