Like expected mismanagement and corruption has lead to the AIBA being stripped of their involvement with th Olympics. Boxing itself will still be there but organized by the IOC (also quite corrupt as we know) itself.
IOC did what they had to do. But they should not leave AIBA to die. It's still a big organization with link to and recognition by hundreds of NOC. AIBA needs to be fully restructured. However, from what I've read, the problem is, it has a very large debt. There is no way IOC would bail them out even for a dollar. There are 1-2 rich guys who expressed their willingness to cover the debt, but of course, there would be a price for it. The biggest danger is, in my honest opinion, some of professional organization greedily intends to take over their authority over the sport, like WBA. I wonder how boxing would do in 2020 Olympics without a sport governing body. I mean, they are still (most likely) going to use AIBA licensed referees. I imagine they need to setup a special task force to be an acting governing body with all the sections, from arbitration to medical. And that will be huge.
The situation is really weird. Boxing needs a change.. maybe it is time to get rid of all those organisations and everything to become one big body. Unfortunately that means less corruption.
