Aidos gave it his all out there He was too brave for his own good. He took a hell of a beating for 12 rounds. I don't know who his corner was but they just kept pushing him out there not caring. Also ref Tony Weekes must take some blame .Aidos was stumbling trying to hang on obviously in serious trouble . What does Weekes do? deduct a point !!!!!!!!! Its time they retired him He stood & watched when Ward was battering Kovalevs testes all fight long he couldn't care less
I just hope & pray Aidos makes a complete recovery he fought his heart out His corner & the referee let him down badly Get well soon Aidos God Bless!!!!

Best wishes for a full recovery, champ.

Tony Weeks should be ashamed as well as the boxers corner.

I've cited the conclusion of the 10th round as a point where the corner and the third man in the ring could or should have entered a dialogue about whether there was any sense in allowing the fight to continue, but I agree that the duration and stricken intensity of that clinch in the 12th is something Weeks or the corner could/should have reacted to in more than just a punitive respect. A point deduction was wholly unnecessary in the circumstances. Carelessness or callousness, but a bad look whatever you call it.

Yes corner and ref should have called a halt, but likewise we as fans should not berate corners or refs if bouts are stopped when we think it too early.

Perhaps there is a need for a rule change where the ringside medic can insist on doing a neuro assessment if they believe it necessary, a independent medical professional basing their decision solely on clinical need only, their decision not open for debate.

Yes Aidos was taking a one sided pounding, but until last part of that round he appeared in reasonable control of his gait, was moving ok, able to focus on ref at time of point deduction, we have seen boxers in a apparent lot worse visual state fight on.

None of us have xray vision to see brain bleeds etc, so hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Here is hoping the medically induced coma Aidos has been put in, will give opportunity for the medics and his own body to deal with the brain injury successfully.

His body and the medics are going to be the deciding factor if he recovers, but if hope and a prayer can have any positive effect then i am offering them in abundance.

    Keep fighting Mr Aidos.

We'd all make perfect calls every time.

We'd like to think we would, anyway.

With that said, the third man's actions in the 12th do warrant some scrutiny. He was dutiful in superfluously protecting the house fighter's interests, but the death grip by which Yerbossynuly was eking out the moment of respite represented an opportunity to at least spare him the punishment that caused the heavy second knockdown, and Weeks should've been more intuitive and attuned to that.

Terrible news. His corner did not protect him.

It's also been reported that Aidos underwent brain surgery on Sunday. Let's hope they caught it in time and that this is one of the good stories to come out of incidents like this. As much heart, willpower and valiance as he showed in the ring, I have a feeling he'll come through this just as bravely.

    Get well champ.

I've seen too many fights where ring tragedies have occured not to recognize the distress signals and a good ref would've spotted them and waved it off. Yerboss' corner should've saved him from being a victim of his own bravery and warrior spirit. He was swimming against the tide from the outset and I could see from his body language he was finding it hard very early into the fight and he showed immense heart and courage to hang in there as long as he did and he even started to claw his way into the fight in some of the rounds. Hopefully he'll make a full recovery but things are obviously not looking too good as of now.

He looks every bit the warrior and badass he is here

    Damn
Had a bad feeling about this one, he looked dazed from round 10 on, the ref could have easily stopped it right there. Boxing never learns from past mistakes.

Sometimes its better to just throw the towel and comeback stronger instead of taking more damage which could potentially end your career.

When I saw him blinking in round 12 i immediately got a bad feeling and was yelling at Weeks to stop the fight.

    Someone should have protected him.

That's madness. He seems completely fine here. Even fast in his movement.

The corner was in the best position to stop it. The referee and doctor can't really stop a fight simply because it's non-competitive the scorecards, but the corner can and should do that. I wasn't impressed with his corner throughout the bout, and even afterward they did not seem overly concerned.

Hate hearing news like these. Praying he goes through a full recovery. His corner did him no favors and the ref failed to protect him, they really should have stopped it much earlier.
